Hello Everyone,
I am new to this list and would like some input...I have an '87 SR5 4x4 22-RE with the Auto trans. I recently lost (finished losing, anyway) a head gasket on what was a remanufactured long block 22-RE eight years/37,000 mi ago. I believe this gasket has not been good since the reman. job (#3 had ZERO carbon on the piston or head and vehicle has never run right in higher RPMs).
I plan on replacing the following items:
Radiator, hoses, thermostat, water pump, oil pump, timing cover, timing chain/gear/guides, injector seals.
I have been searching on line for a good "package" to take care of all the minor issues while I'm replacing the head gasket.
What I would like to know is what brand would be a good head gasket?
Should I buy an entire engine gasket kit to take care of oil pan leak, etc?
Any other suggestions?
