IS reportely trained, sent 400 fighters to attack Europe - News - telegram.com - Worcester, MA

Lets do some quick moderate / worst case math here. In the Paris attack, 10 people shot (injured & killed) over 420 people. Lets say 10 more were behind the most recent attack. That leaves 380 bad guys left.

At the same kill/maim rate of Paris these remaining 380 could take out 15,960 people in Europe. Of course it is hard to believe it could ever get that bad and there are a variety of factors on why this wouldn't be allowed to happen but hey no one though Paris was going to happen either.

I hope not but it very well could happen and we could see numbers like that. In Europe, there is often zero dedication and commitment to vigilance. This happened in a country that is woefully inadequate at protecting its citizens. Belgiums gov't is a mess. These attacks were not sophisticated in any way. Fortunately we live in a place where that commitment exists and is many levels above a country like Belgium. Our hearts go out to them but they do very little to help themselves. ISIS finds a weak spot and exploits it. To defend, don't give them any and exhibit the same patience that they do to weed them out and kill them. Until then, more will die in places where their guard is down or doesn't exist.

They claim to have inadequate infrastructure to track and monitor yet I can only imagine the items in their budget that existed for years for "non-essentials" that will now finally get them to rethink their priorities.

What will be next?? Barcelona? Florence perhaps? Copenhagen?

People better wake up or your 15k number may be reality in the near future.

BrianSD_42 ,

the attacks were TERRIBLE and HORRIFIC but all the refugees are NOT responsible.

You are sort of right, those ISIS operatives posing as refugees to infiltrate Europe are not real refugees ... Guess that makes your statement technically correct. This type of infiltration is the oldest trick in the book.

Anyhow, maybe Obama will send John Kerry over with James Taylor to sing You've Got A Friend. That ought to scare ISIS. Then they hold all sing Cumbayah and wear flowers in their hair. Ol' Mohammed might bust a gut laughing. Before he kills them all.

Did you always believe in opening up America and Europe to millions of refugees or just recently? There has been major tragedies like this in the past, many times over.

I don't... see below for earlier direct quote of what i have said...

and i agree that we shouldn't be opening our doors to millions of undocumented unknown people, that' not at all what i am saying. i also agree the current status of security is better than a back door around the security, but it still is a far cry from secure.

in relation to the controlled interviews you speak of I will directly quote more of what i have already said before.

If people want to sneak in i think they can do it with relative ease. Bad guys don't typically go through the proper channels to do things, so they likely wouldn't be the ones sitting in interviews with the state department, and we all saw how well those interviews worked with the san bernadino shooters.... wait they didn't...

Sorry but I cannot see why everyone is acting so differently now. I think it is social media.

i think the social media age is fantastic in providing coverage and transparency of world events, but i also think there is always a spin. So i like to check things out for myself and review multiple sources.

I am also more moderate than you probably think i am (as you told me earlier). I just cannot agree with an entire group of people being labeled as terrorists, that breeds hate, hate speech, and violence. And that is wrong to me.

In an effort to not repeat myself i will only respond to items that do not require a direct quote of what i have already stated.

I thought this piece made a lot of sense. He brings up many good points.

A clash of what?
Culture, religion – or merely politics? Recent terrorist attacks against another European capital city in less than a year have once again shaken world politics to the core. Are we playing into the hands of Daesh? By Hakim Khatib

agreed. very good reading. it is a complex and many layered issue, and he does a great job demonstrating that.

Maybe they are hoping we will come over and give them a hand?

aaaaaand it turns out the Belgians are simply incompetent:
U.S. frustration simmers over Belgium's struggle with militant threat | Reuters

oh and it looks like they're struggling to fund their federal police and intelligence services, coming right back around to the fact that the US has footed the bill for Europe's defense since the end of WWII so they could be free to pursue massively expensive and overstretched socialist agendas. Easy to have free health care when the big guy across the Atlantic is taking care of the guns. With the border free schengen zones and perpetually dwindling defense funding, paired with increasingly expensive social welfare programs, ISIS is in perfect position to repeatedly stab the extremely vulnerable and soft underbelly of the EU.

History lesson from ISIS:
https://www.yahoo.com/news/islamic-state-video-calls-jihad-brussels-blasts-142945523.html

In the footage, Islamic State noted that Belgium was part of a coalition fighting militants in the Middle East.

It featured the training of Belgian militants suspected in the Nov. 13 shooting and suicide bombing rampage by Islamic State that killed 130 people in Paris.

"The crusaders aircrafts, including Belgium’s, continue to bomb Muslims in Iraq and the Levant in the night and day," said the video.

"Every Muslim who is well aware of the history of Islam, knows that the holy war against infidels is an integral part of Islam, and those who read history would know."

So given that Brussels is painfully inept at just about anything having to do with running a gov't and protecting their own, these sick sick people on this talk show want Americans to panic, show weakness, they denigrate OUR leadership, and genuinely want us to be FLAT OUT SCARED........all because Brussels authorities are useless, they accuse OUR authorities and agencies of being completely incapable of doing their jobs. Thats absurd. Was there a US based ISIS attack that I missed? (and don't ever tell me that San Bern had anything to do with ISIS).

How do these individuals get on TV? Go to around the 9 min mark.......They are seriously pitiful.

The San Bernardino attack was inspired by ISIS. Fact. Sorry to have to tell you.

Any one who follows how ISIS operates knows that a major aspect of their operations is to use social media to inspire fellow Muslims to carry out attacks against the west. Hence the name of their online magazine, "Inspire". The couple in San Bernardino were ISIS followers and at the very least were motivated by ISIS to attack. It hasn't gone public as to whether one or both of them received any training or met with ISIS when they were overseas. Their ISIS connection is what we call in court a stipulation, a known fact all agree on. Or at least people that are knowledgeable if the situation.

This documentary shows a unique perspective from a similar attack carried out in 2008.

It shows the events from the terrorist's point of view through intercepted phone calls. It is eye opening to watch.

Its an hour long but definitely worth watching if you have the time. A lot can be learned from it.

Although this particular event was not isis it was carried out by a politicalislamic organization...

Yeah Sean, the US is doing NOTHING about ISIS. Just sitting back with feet up, going to baseball games and doing the wave, right?

What a fool.

Take old Uncle Newt and put him back in the closet and bring the puppet out another day.

Great video. The major problem I see is that US Military is great at wiping out enemies but what do you do with all of the civilians?

When you knock out an army and the government but there are 30 Million civilians left, many of them with anti-American, anti-western, and frankly anti-democratic beliefs, that poses a huge problem.

We could wipe out all of the military checkpoints and defenses in Mosal or Raqa, even destroy most of the city. But we would still be left with millions of people there.

One thing I believe very strongly is that the US military is not a force that should ever be used to "build a democracy" or "fix a culture" or "govern and parent over foreign peoples" the US government has tried that in the middle east and it has always failed. And frankly we do a disservice to our armed forces by even asking them to take on such a task.

The US military cannot govern over a people who cannot govern themselves. In short the middle east needs a political solution for the ROT that is infesting it, not another invasion of US troops.

Exactly. And that has been our biggest issue. I mean, once you wipe out the existing structure, not only how do you replace it, but with what as well. I love this country, but to say that our system isn't with our own faults would be ludicrous. So, what system is "right"?

Honestly I don't think we as a society should feel any burden, shame or negative anything about the fact that we, America cannot fix, rebuild, create broken shattered societies in the middle East.

I'm re-watching HBO's John Adams right now. The founding fathers never supported this crap.

Fixing other people's failure societies? That never should have been an American goal in the first place.

Once you accept that their culture and societies are the way they are because of their culture, it becomes much easier to accept the fact that we should stay out of their business and keep them out of ours.

Not total isolation but a huge shift from right now.

Stop trying to fix the societies & cultures in the middle East! They don't want it and are Democratic values are not welcome there.

exactly! ive been saying it for years. we have got to take care of ourselves!

we are sending and spending SO much of our time, money and resources in other countries. we are being taxed to the brink of failure, but yet still basically limitless spending outside the country. its shameful.

They don't want us there, they do not share our values, they do not want our form of democracy. Wake up America.

Therein lies the Catch-22. I completely agree that America should not be the one who goes in (mostly under the guise) of helping certain societies. But on the other side, I do feel that as a humanitarian, there should be basic human rights that should be protected and secured.

The only way I could ever possibly see a solution is if we had a global group like the UN but with actual power that gathered and agreed that there are certain principles and equalities that all countries need to abide by. But given how no human seems to be able to handle power without corruption, good luck with that.
