Solution to Broken Sun Visor Retention Clip
If you are all wanting to replace this retention clip because the little plastic flex-tab broke off, then I have a better solution. I too ordered a new (supposedly Toyota made) pair off ebay for my 99. I installed them fairly easy. Driver side broke in the same place upon first use. #&@*!!!!!!
Then I had an idea. There is a little hollow square area in the clip. I found some rubber tubing I had in the garage, cut a small piece, just wide enough to fit into that hollow area. The hose is 7/16" O.D. and 1/4" I.D. . And, you just basically cut a 3/8" length of it (fine tune with razor blade). Stuff it into the hollow area from underneath, with the axis of the tube running side-to-side in the clip. The rounded part of the tubing will stick up a little bit, into the area that receives the visor, like a bumper. The size tubing I mentioned is also just the right size to hit the 'bottom' of the hollow part (which will hit the headliner once it gets re-installed) and keeps it in place.
It works great, and will likely last longer than a "new" clip from ebay.
