Love my sunroof. Use it all the time. Especially to release the hot air that builds up inside while sitting in the sun. Since heat rises, its the best place to vent it.

Fast forward 8 years, do you 3rd gen owners still use the sunroof on a regular basis?
I've only used mine once or twice in the year of ownership so far, primarily verifying that it works. No leaks, no rust, no water pooling from clogged drains.
I am terrified to use it, might pull the fuse for peace of mind.
I'm worried that it'll stop operating at the worst time possible.
Are they known to crap out at high mileage?
My 3rd gen is a baby, 120k miles, but a 19 year old car is still OLD.

I've got a 99 and I use it daily. (mainly to let heat escape)
Only had it a week and noticed a small leak. It's garage kept so its not top priority on the fix list.
I'd like to know about common problems/ maintenance too if anyone has advice

I'm just over 300k, all original stuff except of course the radiator, lbjs and some bushings here and there - i use the sunroof weekly, keeps working just like the side and rear windows.
Can't recall if the runner sunroof has a manual workaround allen wrench like some other sunroofs? I think it was a mazda that had that but maybe camry? :Cowboy:

Use it weekly. Almost always to let hot air out. Other times when I’m hauling the dogs I open it up with the windows and back glass all down so they get a half baked convertible experience. Had to seal the rubber seam up front with some rtv silicone be it was leaking. Other than that, works good.

Yea, I've said it before screw the sunroof. My 3rz manual doesnt have one & it gives me more headroom. My last 3 DD cars have had one & I rarely used them.
The Limited I picked up last Jan has one & on a couple of spring nights I had all 5 windows open & the sunroof. That was nice but most nights are too cold, hot or humid.
Another negative I noticed, is one day I had a bunch of dress shirts from the dry cleaners & couldn't hang them on the rear grab handle because the SR track was in the way. What a pain that was hanging each shirt one by one instead of just tossing all 15 on the handle in one shot.

I had a sunroof on my 3rd Gen. I bought it new, had it for 18 years and rarely used the sunroof. Just enough occasional exercise to keep it in working order. When I got my 5th Gen I specifically got one without a sunroof.

When I park I usually leave it cracked all summer to vent the hot air out. This summers heat in Texas has been brutal. good thing the AC on my twenty year old runner works better then my gf three year old car.

Mine doesn't have one and I appreciate the added headroom. My buddies does, and the reduced headroom is *just* enough to be slightly irritating. If I had one I'd use it, but I'm happier without.
