Sunroof | Do you use it?

For those of you that have a 4Runner equipped with a sunroof, do you actually use it? Would the absence of a sunroof have influenced your purchase decision or change the way you presently feel about your rig?

I've been looking at LOTS of trucks and most have a sunroof. However, the majority of the deals I've come across are for trucks without one. After driving them with and seeing how large they are, seems to be it would be kinda cool to have one. Then again, it's just another thing to potentially break.

The collective's thoughts?

It was a big deal for me on buying my used 4Runner. I'm 6'2", and I find the driver's seat slightly claustrophobic without that window above. It's really lovely with the seat back comfortably to have that extra view on top of the excellent peripheral views the 4Runner already gives.

i made the transition from a soft top jeep wrangler, so the sun roof was a must. not going to lie, i do miss having a 4wd convertible sometimes, but i know my t4r would outlast that jeep anyday

I'm a fan of the sunroof. I have had them in ever car I've owned except my 95 right now. I'm bummed I don't have one because they are nice to get some fresh air in without wind getting blown in your face. Plus its something that you couldn't just add easy later. If you are taller (I'm 6' 1") it is nice, I feel like I'm stuck in a box sometimes.

Could live without it, barely, love it that I have it and tell everyone that I know shopping for a car to get one!! Like Elton I almost always have mine open with the back window down another feature that I love about my 4r, being able to roll the back window down is something that I would rather not give up! wait till you can get 1 with the sunroof, unless you live where it is always raining, which is nowhere so get a sunroof.

i love using it but i found out that in the summer its best to keep the thing closed and not let any sun through..it gets too hot. but i love using it in the fall spring. its always an option and it can be closed.

You guys are killing me! I really want one, but since it has been so difficult to find a truck I was trying to convince myself that I go without. :ybrick:

I know it is all personal preference, buy damn it, I prefer it. :D

PrelateBishop, I obsessed over buying a 4Runner (not about them in general, that was a longer time) for about three months. Nothing seemed a good deal. I didn't want an over-priced and rusty 2003, or what seemed like a flood recovery 2009, or an out-of-my-budget 2010, or a 1999 in crappy shape. When I found a 2001 SR5 with yearly rust coating and the sun-roof and leather, I knew I had a winner. Be patient so you get what you want. Or, make a ho-hum to the seller for a deal, and then spend your savings on a sun-roof installation.

I got such a killer deal on my 4runner I let the prereq of having a sunroof go,

and then my wife got me an aftermarket one for christmas a few years back,

I cant DD a vehicle that doesnt have one,

and I get annoyed when people that do have them use the cover and cover them up..

My sunroof is open 90% of the year and when its not, the cover is NEVER over it, and I will disown any friends that have a sunroof and slide the cover over it! dont think I wont, I almost disowned my dad cuz he does that!
:boxer:

thats how strongly I feel about this issue...

This is the truth.

My cover is always open and I cannot stand when someone gets in my car and then says...."the sun is in my eyes" and then closes it.

But yes, having a sunroof was a must for me was a must. I lucked out and found a 5-speed and sun roof and 4x4!

Keep searching...they're out there.

Sunroof is a must! I've had one in my past 4 vehicles and wouldn't change anything about it. Definitely was a key package option when looking for a 4-runner

What the hell is wrong with people, sliding the cover...

I really really really want a sunroof in my 4Runner, but I am not an aftermarket kinda guy and there's a different roof panel involved for OEM...

I want... sooo bad.... though.... :'(

I don't think the cover in my mercedes knows what it's like to be slid forward...

looks like I'm not the only one out there that wants an moon roof.

I would love to have one...

Especially at night when I get off of work at like 2300. a nice, cool breeze to drive home..

I agree. The little bit of light illuminates the car differently, and the interior looks completely different. I love it. I test drove a sport with a moonroof and fell in love.

The breeze is nice, too.

Especially at 2300 o'clock.

moonroof is a must for me, would have been a deal breaker if.... but i found what i wanted, patience is a virtue. at least 3.5 - 4 months of looking. It was worth it. Like others have said, mine is almost never closed.

Always have mine open and back window down. It's great on those cool nights on my way out of town to my house. I won't buy another vehicle without one either. Had one on my '94 LE Pathfinder and that's what got me hooked on having one.

I do close the cover sometimes when it is very sunny and hot and I park and leave the truck. It's open again as soon as I get back into it though. There is just something awesome about driving around on a nice day with all the windows down, the back window down, and the sunroof open.

I am a convertable loving guy(my 75 bronco says it all) so getting a sunroof was high criteria(as well as v-6 power and 5-speed tranny) sooooo many benifits to enjoying one.
