Sunroof Preventative Maintenance?

I've been seeing too many threads about unlucky folks with sunroof issues, but can't find much on what we can do to prevent potential issues.

My sunroof works great and would love to keep it that way, but it is 15 yrs old so I'm sure a little attention wouldn't hurt. Any ideas you use to keep it healthy would be great.

just like anything,

use it periodically to keep components from sticking or freezing together and keep it well greased, white lithium is my go to grease for sunroof door hinges and door stops.

My motor seems to be finally failing. I need to pull it all apart and grease her but she just dont want to move much anymore, scared to open it because I dont want it stuck open if the motor dies. LOL.

There isn't a manual close? My old mazda had one. I would think that would mandatory.

I don't think there is anything you can do to prevent the sunroof motor from failing.

It's a sealed electric motor. It gets old and used and fails. That's pretty much all there is to it.

Some people have dirt and gunk in their sunroof components but mostly it is just an old tired motor that fails.

Just keep the it clean and some grease along the sunroof rails? Anything inside (belts, cogs, etc.) that need to be serviced or just external areas where it slides open/closed?
