Sunroof rail grease?

My sunroof is sticking so I was wondering if I could use silicon gel or Sil-glyde (napa) to grease the sunroof rails. If not, what should I use?

I've had good luck with a thin coating of CRC lithium grease in the spray can from Wal-Mart. Spray it on and then spread it thin along the track with your finger (I wore those cheapy blue latex type gloves, also from Wal-Mart).

So lithium instead of silicone? What's on it from the factory?

I thought mine might to be greased but I tried that and it really made no difference. The factory grease should still be fine unless you live in the desert and clogged it with sand.

I now believe my sunroof motor is just weak from being 15 years old.

Well I thought about that as well. When it starts to open it's slow or bogged down than speeds up to normal speed. Don't want to replace the motor by putting more strain on it. This sound familiar or did yours open slow from beginning to end?

mine has always been slow but this summer it was so weak it could barely open. it has plenty of grease and slides easily enough once it gets going but it is an uphill battle, like the motor needs coffee.

i am sure that my motor is bad.
