Sunroof Rattle - must reproduce??

I went to my local dealer about getting rid of my sunroof rattle but they didn't hear it so they say that they can't fix it. I had told them about the TSB but they said that the TSB was for fixes for 8 different rattles. I told them fine, fix them all but they said that Toyota would only pay for one of the fixes. This all sounds like crap to me. What should I do? Are they right?

No, they aren't right, just lazy. They don't make big bucks repairing anything under warranty.

They know of the rattles that exist, and have a couple of technicians that could probably make a good guess as to where they're coming from, but they will not spend the time hunting them down unless it can be reproduced. You should go for a ride with the service dept manager, so he can here it while you are driving.

My rear hatch occasionally buzzes at a certain RPM while accelerating, not really loud but it definitely does it. They claimed that the rear hatch was not adjustable to remove the buzz. I bought the factory manuals and did it myself. Was a joke, 15 minutes.

The same thing happened to me. I have a persistent rattle in my passenger door that stops when I push on the door, but resumes when I take my hand off. I took it to the dealer, and even had the manager ride with me. Unfortunately, the rattle didn't occur with him in the 4Runner. So, not only did I look like an idiot but he also said he couldn't do anything. That was at 35,000 miles, and I'm out of warranty now so I guess I'm just SOL.

I'm going to attempt to fix it myself one day when I have the time and guts to take the door off. I had a thread on here somewhere about that.

BTW, do you know the 8 TSB rattles? I wonder if mine is one...

No I don't. I was at 35,400 miles when I took mine in. The rattle didn't start till about a month earlier. My problem is that I can't reproduce mine for nothing. Sometimes it rattles just going down the highway, sometimes not, it does it over some train tracks or bumps but wont do it if I run over them again an hour later. It's hopeless for me until I can make it do it.

I've just had it with my 4Runner. There's damn TSB's for shit that Toyota or my dealer just don't cover. I'm looking for something else.
