Been a follower of this forum for awhile now, never had an occasion to post a question yet. But today I am at my wits end with my sunroof. I have a 2003 Limited, and long story short a buddy of mine was climbing from the back seat out the front door (child locks may have been activated...) and the next day I noticed that the sunshade wouldn't pull back. I was able to get the sunroof to open with the shade still closed at that time and then closed it again to deal with it another day.
Today I attempted the same thing. The sunroof opened over the top of the sunshade. Started looking at the sunshade and noticed on the passenger side there was a about 6" long black plastic piece running in the track with the sunshade, and the sunshade had popped partially out of this piece. I am assuming that the purpose of this black piece was to automatically retract the sunshade when the sunroof opens. In the process of trying to "tuck" the sunshade back into the black plastic piece, the piece of course broke.
So again, long story short, the sun shade ended up getting popped completely out of it's track so at his point it's been removed completely. The only thing left of the black plastic piece is about 2" which still moves freely in it's track. The big problem now comes when I try to close the sunroof. It seems to be acting as if it is jammed on something, it will move slightly and then go back to the fully open position. Every now and then i can get it to close about 2-3" before going back to fully open. I can't see anything that could be obstructing it's path, so could removing the sunshade have done anything to cause it to not close?
And I apologize if there is a post similar to this one. I tried searching for the better part of an hour.
