I searched for similar topics, and only found one thread which did not have detailed answers.
I have a 2000 4runner, base model, and when I bought it last week the sunroof opened fine, but the owner said it was finicky. I took it to my mechanic for some maintenance and mentioned it to him. He said he would grease the tracks. Now it only vents, and when I hold the button to slide it open it will move about a 1/4 inch and then stop. It closes just fine and will pop up in the rear to vent just fine.
Also, when I close it from the vent position it seems to not close all the way, I get out of the car and notice the rear sticking up about a 1/4 inch. It closes fine though when I push it back down, and it hasn't leaked yet.
Any ideas? Could it be off the track somehow? Anybody of have pictures of a sunroof taken apart?
