Super trivial question re: rear hatch struts

One of the first things i did to my 2000 was replace the feeble rear hatch struts. The original bushings and washers were basically remnants when I put the new ones on but i used what there was. It worked great then and the struts still do, but now it sounds like a flock of Canadian Geese is flying out of the back whenever i open or close the hatch. Anyone have ideas about what i can use from the HW store? Was thinking about some urethane washers or something? I suppose I could see if OEM kits are available........

It could be the hinges adding to the noise. A little bit WD-40 or spray can white lithium grease might help.

when I did my strong arms a while back..the hillman parts referenced were not available by those part #'s at my local home depot. That does not mean that they are not available at yours. Ours is a small home depot and lots of stuff home depot sells is at next big home depot....600 miles away in anchorage . So I did go back with my strut and pin and found some that would fit. sorry I did not record #'s.

Here’s another thread to fix the rear hatch strut bushings. Inexpensive nylon bushings and washers. I did this to my reconditioned struts on my 3rd gen and they worked perfectly.
