Supercharged 2000 pinging

My buddy's 2000 5 speed SR-5 has had a supercharger since birth, it was a dealer ordered option. He only runs 91 in it, and its been pinging (under 3000rpm under load) fairly significantly. It has 37K miles. Is this a simple tuning question? Clogged fuel filter? Dirty injectors? Anyone else had this problem?
