Supercharged 4Runner as a daily driver

What's up guys

So I want to super charge my truck but I'm worried that it will kill my wallet with it eating up all that gas. I have a 2" lift with heavier tires 275/70/17. And of course it's not the lightest car out there but I'm thinking maybe the extra HP can help it out.

I have a secondary car that has a 6 speed but I really don't want to have 2 cars. I just want one. Which is why I would be selling the daily driver (04 RSX type S) and have my 4Runner as my daily driver. I've read that guys get about the same amount of MPG's after they super charge it but I'm wondering if anyone has one as their daily driver that also had a super charger on it. I just want to have that extra power just in case lol

I know it's a weird question but I drive to work school and back home, my commute is about 25 miles a day. 12.5 to work, 12.5 back home. On school days I have to drive out of town. I'm mainly on the highway too specially on days off. Right now my truck is my daily just to get the suspension to settle so it's eating about a full tank a week. So what will happen if I supercharge it?? Can anyone give me an idea

Well, I don't daily mine but I wouldn't hesitate to even being supercharged. As long as you can keep your foot out of it, you'll see as good of if not better MPG. And your truck is up to date maintenance wise and healthy.

i Daily mine with a blower lift and a heavy ass foot. my mpg has went down but thats because i drive it like i stole it. you can get the same Mpg if you don't slam the pedal all the time but that is hard because thats the whole point of the blower to me. but you also pay for premium gas so it will be more expensive it all depends to me its totally worth it because id rather drive it the way i want because i don't really have to worry about the expense of gas right now with the short trips i make. all depends hope this helps

My sc'd 99 is my daily driver and I live on a mountain with pretty much no flats. I honestly dont notice that much of a drop in mpg, that is when I dont drive like I stole it. I say its totally worth it

With gas prices the way they are a tank a week isn't the end of the world, it could start to hurt if they go back up.

SC'd mine last week.... alone with doing my valve covers and other items. I'm at 280k on the clock and I gained 7 in vacuum... at idle i now sit 25 in of mercury and even with playing around it seems that i have the same if not better MPG.

I don't drive my 4Runner EVERY day, but I do drive it quite often. I average 15-16mpg on my commute (stop and go traffic for about 15 miles total). If I go 60 on the freeway I can still pull 19mpg. If you've seen my 4Runner you know it's big and heavy and has an ~600in^2 sail on the top of it.

Lowest I have seen is 13mpg I think. Heavy foot, AC on, etc. Same commute.

Lol I have to fill up every 3 days. What is this tank of week you speak of. I also don't even have a supercharger lmao

I DD mine and still get ~18mpg and mostly city. It I go to highway it's up in the 20's still. I've got 2.5/3" lift but still stock tires and not a lot of extra weight. The SC does a great job as long as I don't overdue it.

It depends on driving style more than anything. I'm all about the smiles per gallon w/ the SC. :) but when I'm conscious of it (looking at the scangauge) I play the game with myself of "how much better can I do today". Visuals work well.

IF you decide to supercharge it hold off if you're looking on ebay. UNLESS you buy it new through LCE for $3k.

There's 3 on right now that are asking way too much for their units. Even the one that has the TRD painted red is sky high. Looks as if the seller has bumped the price with an alternate account..

I daily drive my supercharged 98 with a lift and 285's. Gas millage isn't the greatest and premium gas is a little more pricey but it makes for a really fun DD which is good enough for me!

I think I would probably buy it new. They're pretty expensive even on eBay and I particularly wouldn't really trust them. If it's new I would at least get a warranty and be able to trust it lol

Exactly!

If the ones on ebay even the 1st gen came to around 1500 then they'll be worth it. Just don't understand how someone would be silly enough to spend that much for a used unit when they could shell out slightly more for a brand new unit.

I dd'd mine supercharged. Gas mileage stayed the same if not a tiny bit better on the highway especially because of the power efficiency. I wouldn't sweat it. Mine was stock, no other upgrades other than a trans cooler.
