What supercharger do you plan to use? Only curious since to date... there are none offered.
Edit: Honestly not trying to bust your balls. So many of us wish there was an option for a SC, but alas they have proven to be things of fantasy for us so far.

Let me save you 32 pages of reading the FJ forum since that thread started in July 2012. At Summit 2014, TRD gave us bad news and said the SC failed the 100 hour WOT test. They would have one more opportunity to revise the design with their R&D group. And if it failed again then there would be no further work to develop the SC for the 10+ FJ/4Runner.

Ok cool! Thanks. I knew TRD produced a charger for the 4.0L V6. Just wasn't sure if there was one for the 5th gens. Anyways. Thanks guys

do a re-gear to 4.56 instead and then cobble together your own supercharger or turbo kit

Did they finish the one for the new 4.0L? I have seen upto 2009.

They did finish one. Last I heard, Toyota was not selling them some parts they needed, so they weren't making any more. Perhaps that will change, now that TRD is no longer going to produce a SC.

Okay, that does jog my memory. I recall hearing that URD was having trouble sourcing parts but I did not hear the details.
And last July was the last time I heard from TRD and they had not given up yet. Did you hear more since then?
was trying to figure out why you wanted to supercharge yur wife's...

Spring of last year, there were rumors it was in final stages of testing, part numbers were issued, and TRD even put out a utube video about the SC. Then there was news of a failed endurance test for a scuffed bearing. At SEMA, TRD reps told someone that the SC had been cancelled.
I would rather them not sell one at all if its causes problems down the road. My scion XB2 had SC shaft issues and it turned out into a big waste of money/time/happiness. Two or three shafts later. Still blew it up. Trd doesn't make them for scions anymore either. Just saying...is rather have my 4Runner for 365 days a year than a SC that has to go into the shop every other month for a failed part...

From the videos, it appears that Toyota has developed a Super Charger for the 4.0L. Am I missing something??? :help:

Actually, if you really, REALLY want to know about the supercharger don't call TRD, just go to this website: Unicorn horn dust - RuneScape Item - RuneHQ
They know all about superchargers there.
If you persist on wanting to go fast in a 4Runner then here is another bit of information that could help you out: Delusion of Grandeur | Encyclopedia of Psychology even though 4Runner superchargers are not listed there (just like on TRD website) just add them right between power and wealth.

Usually I just prowl on this website. I just got done talking to wife about a smart@$$ on this website puts in useless degrading posts when it's not needed and good ones sometimes. I go here today and what do I find...here you are.
