There are videos on older 4Runners on YT, but I cannot seem to find one for the 5th gen. If you did it yourself, how long did it take? My cargo area is fine (no 3rd row). Just passenger area.
Has anyone replaced 5th gen carpet themselves?

if you buy the factory carpet it's not difficult in terms of technical ability. it's difficult due to the PIA factor of basically removing everything inside the vehicle, all the trim pieces too. I've had trim pieces, seats, centre consol etc out at separate times for various reasons but never all at once.

Last year, I removed and reinstalled the same carpet to install sound reduction material under my carpet. It's not a hard job, just tedious.
I think I took most of weekend, two days, but that included installing dynamat under the front two rows of seats, along with running some cable from the engine bay to the rea . You could do it likely in one day.
It entails removing all the seats, the middle console between the seats, floor trim by the doors (all five).
I can't think of anything odd or tricky. I watched some videos and web postings, especially looking for people who added sound proofing. I don't recall breaking any clips, but it was because I did it on two hot summer afternoons/evenings.
The toyota 4Runner (5th gen) is like a bit lego set...most everything comes apart and goes back together rather easily.
I would recommend getting an OEM replacement carpet just to match all the curves and odd shapes as it is far from flat.
A good set of metric wrenches and sockets along with this made the job much easier

I used a couple big pieces of cardboard to put all the parts on, and taped every piece to it to along with written description of where it came from. Painter's tape worked well leaving no residue. In hindsight, I should have taken pictures, but the cardboard worked well basically having the interior parts laid out one by one exactly as they were inside the car.
Hope this helps and gives you the confidence to do it. It's not hard if you take your time and document it somehow. Good luck!

Probably overkill, but well worth it, but it took a lot of time to install.
I took another weekend to soundproof/insulate the rear cargo area (removed the side panels and did around/under the rear quarter panels and roughly the first one and hlaf feet of the roof (didn't want to remove the ceiling liner, but that part was reachable from the rear hatch).
