I would call TRD and see what the have to suggest. Sounds like the supercharger was either neglected or overly abused. They may have a rebuild kit for you either directly through them or directly from the supercharger manufacturer; I believe it's Magnussen? Someone correct me please.

I was reading an artical that said that when you supercharge you have to upgrade the fuel injection system. So I looked in the book that came with the sc kit and it says that if you run stock boost (which I am) you should not have to upgrade. could this be related to the grinding sounds. and can i use URD injection with my trd kit?

I just got off the phone with TRD and they dont make a rebiuld kit for it. They also dont make new superchargers for a 1999 any more. i know URD makes a sc for my truck but i read that it its junk. Can I just take off my sc and got back to a stock engine??

Ok what TRD told you isn't true. You can rebuild them like I said in my earlier post magnuson is who you wanna talk to. You can even look on ebay for rebuild kits. URD doesn't make a s/c kit for the 3.4 motors. Also the s/c is the same for all the 3.4 motors and you can still buy them new from dealers and ebay has a bunch of them. None of them are year/model specific. You should talk to Gadget at URD he can give you all the info you need for a rebuild kit, and they could even do it for you.

Yeah, anything technical like this that you're not sure if your getting anywhere with, just contact Gadget @ URD. Very knowlegeable and helps a lot of people out.

Hey thanks alot for all the great info. I'll definately give "Gadget" a call.

How can I reach anyone at Magnusen? All I can find is a number on the TRD website and anytime I call, they tell me they have stopped manufacturing superchargers for the 4Runner. But the same year of Tacoma has the same engine in it (correct me if I'm wrong) so would I be able to put a Tacoma supercharger on my T4R?

They recommend a "service" every 100k which I believe is something to do with the nose cone and lube for it. But rebuild kits are available. Yes the 3.4 was the same in the 4Runner , Tacoma and T100

you can also contact Ed at PSE superchargers. http://www.pse.us/ They have optimal experience in rebuilding and servicing the TRD superchargers and are very familiar with them. To date he has rebuilt 1 MP90 TRD SC and several MP45 TRD superchargers for my car club. Their prices are fair and their workmanship is optimal and the time they take to rebuild is very quick.
