Anyone know if TRD is going to offer a supercharger for the 2006 V8? Not found on the brochure.
Are the superchargers offered covered under Toyota's warrenty?

Thanks

They used to have a supercharger for the 2003/2004 V8. TRD is developing a supercharger for the 4.0V6 on the Tacoma X-Runner platform. The magazine Sports Compact Car did a story on it. I'll see if I can scan it and post it on the forum.

No news about a S/C for the 2UZ-FE (4.7L V8). I doubt its going to happen considering this engine is on its way out...

to save you a lil search time. trd stopped prod. for the sc on the 4.7 v8 when they added the vvt-i to the engine. sc's were avail. on early model v8 4runners (03 and 04, i think). about the v6 sc, toyota said it was producing one a loooooong time ago. i'm not holding my breath any longer. in fact, i've given up on that a loooooong time ago. hah. you can continue your search now.

TRD has not officially produced a supercharger for the 4.0, but a few other companies have with very impressive results. Here is a Prado in Australia with the supercharger... As I remember, a 56% increase in power, nad nearly 40% increase in torque (these are peak numbers). I have emails from them about every 6 months stating that they have work in progress on this project though.

Yeah, TRD came out with a supercharger for the new X-Runner...it's been unveiled. If it'll be available for the general public is unknown.

true... I misspoke... TRD has unveiled it at a show, but it has never been put into production for general availability.

2005 V6 Supercharger

...just wanted to get into this thread to hear about any new words about the V6 supercharger.

Are you guys aware of any other companies, Paxton, Eaton, Jackson Racing, Vortec or any other companies besides TRD with R&D?

I'd love to get that link for the Sport Compact Car article on the SuperCharger.

Thanks and Happy Holidays. \\

I doubt he mean the VVTI engines. I think he is referring to the NON-VVTI motors found in the 03/04 line. There is no way that toyota would get rid of there 4.7L engine even after the new 5.7L V8 found in Tundras given that not everyone would want a guzzling 5.7L

Since VVTI is being put on all the toyota motors from corollas to 4Runners, the non-VVTI ones IMO are out the door.

I've read reports of the 2UZ-FE being replaced by smaller more efficient V8 engines, along with the release of the 5.7L V8...

What would be more reliable on the Toyota engine,a roots or centrifigal type blower?

The Roots type is the most reliable but the centrifugal makes more power.
