$2-2.5k for a new SC about 1500 or so for used base model.

install would be about $300 if you didnt install yourself. This is from what Ive seen.

from what i have heard/read... its over $5k for toyota dealer to do it (install and s/c). not that dealership is EVER the way to go

if i had the money to do something like that, I would only go to the dealer. If your dealer has crappy techs then it's still the dealers problem. there would be a guarantee and i'm sure they have all the tools needed to get it done right.

Case... i went to a local shop to get an alignment and balance...My ass did not hit the waiting room couch when i was summoned back to the work area and was told that they can only speed balance my wheels to 45-50 MPH(shimmy started at 60) and the alignment machine was an old skool model.. not the computer laser balance that the dealer uses.. AND they still use the "outside the wheel" weights! needless to say i decided that this reccomended shop was not to me....
Needless to say i spent more but i got what i paid for. I know small shops dont have all the latest n greatest equipment.

Cost of my initial setup:

$2500 for the TRD supercharger and TRD 7th injector, ($1800 for the charger, $700 for the 7th inj) - deal on YT
$380 for the URD AIC - don't really need it with the TRD 7th, but if you want complete tunability and smaller pulleys
$90 for the 2.2" URD pulley
$50 for the 1679 Hayden trans cooler - precautionary measure

Considerations:
91-92 octane no less! Expect to spend $50 at the pump at each fillup.
MPG drops due to heavy foot
Each truck is different in regard to ping

If supercharger information for the 3.4L is what you are looking for, you need to check out www.customtacos.com and use their search function. Every single possible question you can come up with has already been answered on that forum 5-10 times over.

I spend $50 filling up my 4Runner with 87 LOL! Did you ever get to the dyno with your 2" pulley?

Sidenote: I was talking to my friend Bryant about your 4Runner and previous Supra and he remembers you from Supra forums. He said your Supra was absolutely bad ass lol :biggrin2:

Just gotta say once your blown, you will never look back to non S/C 4runner. Its one of those thing, once you go S/C your willing to spend the money again if you ever get another 4runner.

mine so far is around $2,500 thats just with used S/C with about 7k mile and a URD fuel kit. No tranny work yet. That will be another $1,000.

I would say that is pretty average for the cost of power adder like a super charger.

If I ever do any performance mods that's where I'll start.

but 700 for a 7th fuel injector seems pricey. for that price you could buy a piggy back unit (Emanage-350) and have tune-ability.

I haven't had time to dyno the truck with the smaller pulley yet.

Haha, I used to frequent supraforums a long time ago. But yeah, going from that 420 rwhp pavement pounder to this underpowered grocery getter was growing up too fast so to speak... I had do some modifications.

You might want to hold off on the IPT valve body mod. You can do half the mod yourself for free when you remove the valve body. All you do is stick some shims in the shift accumulators. The shims made my shifts significantly firmer, (chirps tires when downshifting), but it could definitely use more on the upshifts - still somewhat sluggish. The next time I open the VB, I'm going to skip the shims and stick solid rods within the springs - several members had GREAT results with this. Read the following link:

Not sure how that Emanage is going to help you get fuel.

With the supercharger, you need more fuel one way or another. URD complete fuel injector upgrade kit, URD 7th injector kit, or TRD 7th injector are your options. The URD 7th kit is easy to install, has a cooling effect on intake charge, (heat soak is a problem with superchargers and those running the 7th injector seem to have less problems and put down more power consistently), and is easy to tune. My suggestion is to go with the URD 7th kit and call it a day - comes with the AIC and timing control. Otherwise, go with the TRD 7th, (if you don't want to tune). You have the option of picking up the URD AIC if you want to tune your TRD 7th later. JMHO.

by adjusting the duty cycle of the injectors. Greddy is just one of the many brands that make piggy back ecu's like the Emanage.

I don't doubt the urd or trd are soild set-up's. I'd just like to think there are more options.

If piggy backs work for turbo applications, why wouldn't they work for sc?

So... Let me get this straight, you plan on adjusting the duty cycle of the injectors to accomodate 6-12 lbs of boost, (stock-2.0" pulley), without upgrading your injectors or adding an additional injector?

Good luck.

http://www.gadgetonline.com/Fuel.htm

"It was clear that I still was not getting enough gas into the engine. Remembering back to my first set of dyno runs the dyno operator told me I needed an injector upgrade. He pointed out the jagged saw tooth look to the lines on the chart and said every time he has seen this it ended up being to lean.

I sent one of my stock injectors to RC Engineering and had it flow tested. It flowed at 238 cc. That means that when locked full open it will flow 238 cc of fuel per minute. Locked full open is 100% of its duty cycle. The maximum recommended duty cycle of any injector is 80%. This is the industry standard to prevent erratic injector operation.

I used the fuel flow formulas on the RC Engineering web page and computed the max HP for the stock injectors out of my truck. At 80% duty cycle they will support 198 HP and at 100% they will support 247 HP. The 198 HP seems real bad and the 247 sounds a little more acceptable if the ECU will run the injectors at 100% duty cycle."

Hope that answers your question.
