Superlite roof tent

Mind if I ask who you’re talking to at GFC. I reached out the other day expressing that I felt GFC has done very little to keep people
(Myself) updated on their order considering in the 6-7 month wait they’ve only posted one actual update to their site. The response I got was again vague “ we’ve had supply chain issues let us know if you want to cancel”. What kind of customer service is that?

I have found that almost every vendor I have used - and that is a lot at this point (RCI, Rago, R4T, Sherpa, GreenLane, Baja Designs, Diode Dynamics, some random dude in a wrap and detail shop in CO that sold me some retrofitted OEM LEDs, SDHQ, PowerTrays, DMOS, VLEDs, Switch Pros, Air On Board, Witt's End, LFD, etc.) - are pretty much the same.

  • If they have so
  • mething in stock, it ships.
  • If they don't, you get an order confirmation.
  • You hear nothing until it ships, which could be days or months.
  • If you reach out, they will tell you "as soon as we can" and give you an estimate that will be off up to +/-100%.
  • Only the really big players (VLEDS, Baja, Diode, SDHQ) give you reliable estimates, but even there, I've been told 6 weeks and have it take 10.

The only one that was proactive about keeping me updated was GreenLane. I love those guys - if I ever get a ladder, it's going to be theirs, since I like aluminum and I like to support well-run places.

But they all seem kinda the same.

Don't get me wrong - it seems pretty darn easy to get the emails of people waiting and send them a note every month or two on what the hell's screwed up in China and how long it will take. But I don't see anyone doing that. Maybe I should start a offroading vendor consulting business lol.

They do "instagram live" nights some weekdays. Maybe jump on one of those and ask why they don't take 20 minutes once a month to update their customers ...

Funny you mention the Instagram live nights. I was thinking the exact same thing. I will try and hop on there and see what they have to say. I mean if what I'm asking is over the top please tell me. I just don't understand how there can be one update in 7 months and they still don't know when orders will ship ect...

No, I agree. And the system almost all of them use - Shopify - makes it easy to do this sort of stuff.

My only point is that they are all the same, which is kinda baffling, because customer service is pretty easy with the software available now.

No kidding. I’m not even complaining about the wait it’s the fact they can’t even take 20 minutes out of the month to update us. Ok my rant is over. Thanks for listening lol

Ordered my Roofnest, reached out about military discount, received response same day. Received tracking information, shipped same week, received. No Instagram, no waiting on hold, no shadow games, deposits, waiting 6-8 months for a $1k tent. You guys keep on grinding though!

See, this thread is about GFC S Light. You seem to have mistaken it for the "make people feel bad about stuff thread."

Anyway, there are some differences between the two.

$3,695 vs. $1,299.
160 lbs vs. 80 lbs.

Apples, meet oranges.

It's great you are excited about your purchase. Make sure to post some pics in the "Picture Gallery" since I bet you get to some cool places with it.

Peace friend.

Nah, I was merely pointing out that waiting a year to beta test a cloth RTT simply to save a few pounds from a company with mixed reviews and a reputation for terrible customer service sounded like a bad idea.
