When I looked at my paycheck today, I noticed that it was *much* smaller. I calculated it out and it looks like I will be paying an additional amount of taxes equal to a full suspension system or two this year.:jaw::frusty:

What happened to protecting the middle class?

Anyone else take a look at their paystub?

EDIT: for what it's worth, I know one of the Fed taxes basically doubled.

We're not the 1%...and we make less than $450k/year...and yes, our federal taxes went up significantly (SS tax and Medicare). But, you know, my family can live with these increases. We will do fine for the next four years because we have everything paid off already (no loans!). We will just live with less excess.

Yep, this was nothing new. We warned our employees about this a little while back, wanted to make sure they were prepared.

We got a memo at work that ss tax was going up from i think 4% to 6%. They also had a figure that said if you make $50k last year you would have paid $3200 toward ss. This year is $4200. Not sure about medicare. So with me being 30 I'll continue to pay but never be able to reap the benifits. :rockon:

Your taxes didn't go up. Bush pushed through a temporary cut to Medicare and SS taxes, and that cut has expired. SS and Medicare taxes have just gone back to the level they were at before the cut.

It sucks, but did you really think our National Socialist Democrat President was going to let a tax cut stand? That's not your money, Comrade, it's the State's to do with as they please. You should be honored to be allowed to contribute to the welfare of the slackers underclass.

Don't forget, companies are now actively pushing people to part-time positions with no overtime so that they don't have to pay for health insurance.

Just talked to a waitress at IHOP. They're cutting their employees' hours because they don't want to pay for insurance.

Word is #Macy's is also cutting employee hours to under 30 per week to avoid paying healthcare. If I still worked there Id definitely quit

it's making them part time and cutting their hours. Denny's did that to my daughter to avoid overtime pay.

How much is enough though? I am sick and tired of supporting senseless wars on Drugs/Terror/Obesity/Education and everything else the government does.

There is a very pervasive mentality among some Americans (i use that term loosely) that some taxes are ok. Well we are now paying far more taxes than a bloody revolution was fought to repel over 200 years ago. And it's not just the Federal taxes, state and local taxes have gotten out of hand.

Newport News, VA collects 12.5% sales tax on prepared food, in other words, 1/8th of your bill goes to the city's coffers. Newport News also has one of the highest crime rates in the area, while having some of the worst schools. Every public school in this area looks like a prison from the outside, because that's essentially what they are now. It's only a matter of time before all of the USA is turned into a prison state.

This will never get any better. Throughout history almost every great democracy collapses into a socialist state. From there it usually leads to communism, rebellion, or conquest. This is happening in this country and there is nothing that any of us can do about it. The only individuals that have any power to improve the lives of this country's citizens are the same people that are ruining it. Republican and Democrat. Voting the incumbents out everytime there is an election might help, but it will only prolong the inevitable. Corruption in government is almost impossible to remove and ours is plagued with it.
Be thankful this country is still as geat as it is and probably will be for many years to come. However at some point in the not too distant future, this country won't resemble anything close to what our fore fathers planned for it to be. :usa:

Actually we felt the bite a bit but more on my wife's side since she makes the big bucks but our decrease of income can be helped if the Broncos advance to the AFC championship since back in March when we aquired Manning we put a $500 bet in Vegas on the Broncos so in a few hours we could be very happy.
