SURPRISE - more tax for you!

I'm not blaming Bush for our current issues but he sure put things in motion with a war we can't win and plunging the country further into debt just started a chain reaction but even before that we have been a slow decline but it's accelerated alot over the last 12 years. I don't think Obama is golden by far but like I said I'm gun shy of the Republicans. If you think I could change would you change if a credible Democrat was running or do you vote as blind as you say I do?

Romney got crushed in the election so obviously americans saw a problem with the Republicans and feared them worse than another 4 years of Obama. my vote wouldn't have changed a thing. Romney isn't about uinions either and with a few meetings with our union Obama was the safest for the future of my job.

Ford Explorer sold way more than your 3rd gen 4runner...does that mean that it was a better choice?

Every vote counts. That was why Romney lost. Dumb Republicans who were waiting for the perfect candidate stayed home in protest...only to realize that they were basically voting for Obama!

Ahhhhhhhhh...now, we get to the basic reason why you voted for Obama...and never for Republican. You're a freaking union member!! No wonder. Now, i know why you did not even bother to do any reading. Unions need to die. It is an outdated practice in this country.

Yes, you are. You have always used Bush to blame Obama's failed policies. :redbrick: Even now. :(

Ahh...and you think that Obama multi-faceted involvement in the MIddle East is any less stupid???? Really??!! Arab Spring is a good thing? Remember, Libya?

Yes, i would vote for Democratic candidate if he/she proves adequate for office of the presidency.

But, YOU...you're a UNION member. That explains everything.

It's your opinion and without a union here I wouldn't even make a liveable wage and this isn't the auto union which has abused it's power. I make a decent wage and my job is protected and don't fault me for the job I chose and I have to do what's best for me and not you. I can't help that it's outdated and I'm not thrilled with our union but it's my life and I can't start over now as I'm close to retirement and a pension.

These last few posts between Thai and RonM are a prime example of the core problem in this country. Division to extreme ends of the spectrum with no willingness to compromise. Dems and Rep disagree with each other just for sake of disagreeing and getting free press out of it. None of them have our best interest in mind therefore why should they compromise on their beliefs to make improvements? They work for campaign dollars and any political confrontation that gets them in front of the camera so they can tell Americans how hard they're working for them only helps insure they're re-election.

No matter how much you guys argue, you're still both wrong. It wouldn't matter which president was elected. The problems in this country can't be pinned on one man. ALL of the politicians elected over the past few decades are to blame.

Since your wife is the bread-winner (and probably not in a union), shouldn't you put her job ahead of yours? :noidea:

My wife's job is fine and I'll be retiring in about 5 years so I can't let that go. I'll be young enough to collect a pension and then get another job.

With you and rebel, i stand corrected. Thank goodness for some common sense.

I was in the union for the money, $27/hr for the same welding job I was doing as a "scab" it was a no brainer lol.

Plus the way the union contract was written I received crazy amount of 1.5 and double time.

Do you think that Obamacare will hurt the big boys & corps? No, they will find a way to survive and go around it. The ONLY folks that Obamacare hurt are the same folks who voted for his promise of a pie in the sky! Think about it. Do you think that corporations will suddenly buy insurance for every employee and expect to survive? No, they will cut full-time employment radically...and limit every part-timers to less than 30 hours/week. That way, the corps don't lose...they actually may profit from all this (since they have less benefits to give out). Wait till you get treated like a number at hospitals and clinics.

Do you think that the rich will suffer? Hell no. It is plain stupid that some folks think that Obama policies will make only the rich suffer. Plain stupidity.

And yeah, when you're tight on money...NEVER use Vegas as a source of income.

Yep, and it's not just large corporations doing this.

I was talking to my former business partner (who owns several smaller businesses) over the Holidays. He is having to do this, just to remain competitive with his competition, so he can stay in business.

So instead of the full-time jobs with insurance his employees had, they now have part-time jobs with no company provided benefits.

The alternative would be to shut his doors entirely. His employees would then be unemployed.

I've noticed that some hardcore conservatives want to place extreme emphasis on four American deaths in Libya to discount Obama and conversely address the 20+ child deaths at Sandy Hook as statistically insignificant to downplay any need for improved gun control.

It's a wacky world.

It's a wacky world.

Both equal policy ineffectiveness. Both proves that policies are in place...it just take proper enforcement of each to make them effective. The fact that you somehow equate the two shows your lack of understanding of each. :fish:

It is truly a wacky world...and it is equally wacky when someone still think that gun control equals less crime or would have prevented these horrible events.

Wait a minute...and you call ME short-sighted??? Isn't this quote the very definition of short-sightedness?? Feel free to correct me.

Very few of these comments are about the actual changes to the tax code which took place.

KidV started to talk about it then the subject was changed.

All that happened is now for incomes under $400k /year the temporary Social Security & Medicare tax break expired. This means the 2 or 3% extra out of your paycheck (vs last month) will continue to fund Social-security. It is simply returning to 2011 levels.

The only people who should really be outraged about this change (back) are those who don't want social security to exist.

Personally, I prefer Social-Security's future existence, especially since I've been paying into it for 16 years now. My grandmother gets social security and she earned it because my grandfather worked his entire life, including serving in WW2 therefore paying into the program. She is not "mooching off anyone" . The same thing could be said about my parents who earned benefits by working and paying into the program their whole lives. When they turn 67, they start to draw benefits.

I used my earned benefits (aka the GI-BILL) to pay for my college. It is a benefit I earned by serving in the United States Navy and deploying twice, including for Operation Iraqi Freedom. I don't think I was mooching off anyone when I attended college and collected my benefits.

But alas if you prefer these programs be abolished then de-funding them in form of tax cuts is a good start.

.... In my opinion the moochers are all the spoiled kids living at home free while over 18 years old. Many of the parents in the US, even on those T4R support these type of kids and their lifestyles.
