Surprisingly good MPGs

I read an article in a boating magazine back when gas was outrageous that talked about getting the best fuel economy while towing. One of the tips given was to keep the RPM's at or below 2000, towing or not. I've used that since I read it and have found that it seems to work quite well. I will say that keeping it under two grand while accelerating is painful and I rarely do it, two grand while cruising is easy and in the 4Runner that's just a bit over seventy miles per hour. I've used that two grand rule in multiple stock vehicles and they all vary on exactly how many mph that is but they all seem to get the best mileage if I stay with 2000 RPM while cruising.

I've been pleasantly surprised too. I've only had it a few weeks but my 4x4 SR5 got 22.5 mpg on a trip up to the lake (55-60 mph the whole way on country roads). In town it's getting right at 17 mpg. First vehicle I've driven that's met or exceeded the EPA estimates.

Either way it's definitely an improvement over my '03 Tundra, which got about 12 mpg in town!

If I don't get too crazy on my 2015 SR5 accelerator I average 20.8 to 21.1

That's mainly HWY with my commute and a little country driving

Much better than my faux wheel drive 2011 EX-L Pilot that could never get above 17.5. Yuck

Previous 2006 Unlimited Rubicon got about 14 and I grannied the crap out of that thing. I'm doing the same with my 16 TEP and getting...well...I'm not sure since I'm only on my first tank, but I'm at 330 miles on the tank with a hair under a 1/4 tank left. I haven't been to the gas station in 2.5 weeks which was totally unheard of with the Jeep.
