Suspension Kit for minimal lift?

XReas on my '07 V8 with 120k is starting to go with a leaky shock....Time to start considering options.

Due to garage height restrictions, I can't go much more then about and inch or two on lift and would prefer to keep close to stock. What are the best options for a kit that is close to stock w/ minimal lift? Will also be looking to do my control arms while at it. Is there a kit that ya'll would suggest? Most I've found on this forum is in reference to being lift oriented...

The majority answer is probably going to be Bilsteins 5100 with stock or FJ Cruiser springs.

+1 for Bilstein 5100 and FJ springs.

I did that for my 07 V8 about 6 months ago.

The lift is very mild. I got .75" in the rear and about 2" in the front (setting the 5100s to 1.75").

In regards to UCAs, you probably won't need them if you stay with a mild lift.

I have brand new Light racing UCAs sitting in my garage because I didn't need them after my lift. Here is what it looks like...

Tacoma TRD swap up front with FJ springs for the rear w/ the Tacoma shocks served me well. Very budget friendly, I was able to get larger A/T tires to fit and it was a very modest lift in the range you are looking for. The Tacoma gear is pretty easy to find. I picked mine up locally from a guy who drove his truck straight from the dealer to have a lift installed. I've since upgraded to a Radflo kit.

Still curious for the above answer - at 130k miles I'm wondering if I should replace springs, and if so, what is a good factory/OEM comparison? Looking for minimal lift.

FJ springs are a little stiffer and slightly taller. roughly .5" ish lift. It will make your ride stiffer, in a good way. Highly suggest them. You can get some moog FJ springs relatively cheap from auto parts stores. Or find used on craigslist etc,

If your doing new shocks, definitely add new springs as well. Again FJ will be much better than stock

I'm about to go this route as well. What is the recommended height I should set the front shocks to if I'm adding Moog springs? .85 or 1.75? I'm not a fanatic about it being level but I do want to eliminate the serious rake that the stock 4runner has. Thanks

Ok I'm in pretty much the same boat, 110,000 miles on my '07. I've been looking at the 5100s to level it out. You're saying moog coils for an Fj would be good. I found a set of 4 on rockauto.com for $100. I know my springs are old but are those moogs as good of quality? The low price has me concerned.

SwayAway sells a short lift spring. Or check the OME catalog, they have tons of heights and spring rates.

I've ordered Moog Springs (4Runner's, not FJ's) to go with it and am planning on .85.

I actually think the lines on the car look good with a slight forward rake. I won't be installing everything for a week or two but can revert with photos when all is done.

If your adding moogs front and rear they both will give roughly same lift, so eliminate that question. Now measure your difference in front and rear height, if you 2+ inch difference go with 1.75! If your 1" diff go with .85. This should keep you with rake. I like a .75-1" rake as well

They are good quality! Tons of people run them.

Ok thanks that makes me feel better! I'm always leary straying from genuine toyota parts.
