Suspension Lift for 2014 T4R with KDSS?

Hi everyone! New guy here. I have been offroading for decades. Most recently with an 02 taco 4wd. It is time to make some changes.....

I am buying a 2014 TE. I plan to do a 2 inch suspension lift on it. The local Off Road Warehouse rep said to NOT get KDSS if I planned to lift it.

I am seeing articles here on guys lifting their 4Rs with KDSS. I even looked at one today with a 3 inch lift and KDSS, but these are older 5th Gens.

Whats the deal here? Can I lift a 2014 with KDSS? It is not possible for the dealer to find a 2014 TE without KDSS. So, if I really don't want the magic suspension, I have to custom order a 2015 and wait 4 to 5 months.

Any input would be welcome

I'm lifted 3" with KDSS. No issues with the exception of limitations on reservoir mounting...if you go that route.

Are there any issues I should know about, fi I lift a KDSS suspension? Travel limited? Change out sway bar ends? Extra expense for lift?

You can lift a TE with KDSS, I helped a friend do an ICON stage 1 on his 2012 TE a few months ago. If you want a TE without KDSS they're all over Texas. You can easily find one.

are you sure that they arnt thinking of the x-reas system not the kdss

as the x-reas system has to do with shocks and the kdss has to do with your sway bars

you can lift with kDSS just be prepared to lean to one side :) ! not a surprise ! one of the rear sides has to be compensated with 1" spacer on the coil and front coil overs adjusted accordingly. don't bother with the dealer in re calibrating kDSS they don't know $hit about recalicrating it⚠️!!!

Sonoma steel has a nice lift kit for the 2014 at a reasonable price. There are a few threads specifically discussing this particular snafu with kdss. For the most part tho all the companies with reputable lifts have kits designed with KDSS in mind. Icon, toytec, sonoma steel, to name a few.

IMHO, Your best bet is to discuss it with the company you're purchasing the lift from, not the shop that is installing it. Reason being is the company, or a rep from that company can tell you better than someone who justs installs the lift, since they're the ones who designed it. I had a lengthy talk with Steve from sonoma, I'm sold on his kit when the time comes for me.

Don't let anyone else suggest something to alter your decision. Especially based on just the lift. Get the KDSS if you truely feel it to be beneficial for you or don't if you see it not benefitting you.

Hey Oscarr, do you know who makes a 1" spacers for the rear? Mine leans to the right and I can't stand it. By the way, I second not bothering trying to have the dealer re calibrate the kdss. They really don't know much about the system. Thanks.

Toytec has the OME 10 mm spacers. I bought 2 you can stack them up also. a few other companies make 1.5 inch spacer for the rear. just google them. I think the OME is the best way to approach this lean scenario.

cornfed suspension makes a 1" spacer, i have them on my rear coils. They list them as being compatible with the 4th gen as well.
 
Unlevel

I just lifted my 5th gen with kdss last week, it's now sitting unlevel after a few days after the lift was installed. Some are saying I need a track bar. Is that correct? The fronts are not adjustable. So how would I level the fronts?

I have a spacer for the uneven front end.
