I'm going to get a Dobinsons package for my 99 Surf/4R. I will get their springs and shocks all way round. It will be 50mm/2" lift according to the website. I spoke with a rep and they said it will not need any additional parts to compensate for the lift.
Anyone have thoughts about this matter? In reading a few posts on lifts I still do not have clarity if I would require a longer brake line to accommodate the lift, or what about bump stops? If needed, what's recommended? Anything else I'm missing?

I didn’t realize Dobinsons made 3rd gen stuff. I always see it being discussed for 4th/ 5th gens.

Anything under 3” in the rear doesn’t need the extended brake line. Extended bump stops are only needed for shocks over 14” compressed length from the upper stem mount to lower eyelet mount. Durobumps offers an upgraded bump stop option for what you’re installing but it’s not needed unless you want to upgrade. 2” of rear lift is kinda inbetween what’s recommended to stick with a stock compressed length shock and running an aftermarket shock made to run with lift coils (2.5”-3”+). Do you have the specs on the rear shock lengths?

I have Dobinsons front coils and I think they are amazing even with the stock shocks.

I think you made the right choice. Dobinsons and OME are proven in Australia and really engineered for serious but "real life" unpaved conditions, not for racing or show.

You should email Mike at Dobinsons who is very helpful and not your typical pushy, minimum actual info/lots of big talk sales guy.

But I think that it is indeed wise to stay under 2" of lift and thus minimize the potential for issues.

No specific info on the shock length from Dobinsons (will check). But David at Dobinsons (works with Mike) had said I didn't need any additional stuff so was taking that as square advice. Once I started reading a few more build threads I began to think maybe I might need to consider "some" upgrades.

You don't need to do anything extra for a 2" lift.
