Suspension Questions

Hello,

I don't have a lot of knowledge about suspensions and i have a few questions hopefully someone can help me out.

I found a kit from Toytec to lift my 4runner.

I only want a mild lift maybe 1.5 - 2 inches, but i also want good offroad performance since i live in Arizona but i travell to Baja twice a year, and do a lot of off roading on really bad dirt roads.

My question is, what is the difference between coil overs and spacers, would coil overs give me a little bit more travel on my suspension?

What about UCA? what is the benefit of using after market UCA? and LCA?

Rear shocks with reserve? a great difference?

I don't know how changing the UCA or LCA would help, aftermarket ones might be stronger.

Your cheapest bet is OME 881's with or without a 3/8 top plate spacer (depends on if you want the full 2") and OME 906's in the rear. This will give you ~2" all around. There are some other options the people run.

Coilovers are going to give you a much better ride and will have better travel. The spacers are a band-aid and will not be ideal as they use you stock coils. Everyone ends up replacing the spacers pretty quick after installation because they suck.

An aftermarket UCA will allow you to clear wider tires (probably won't be needed with your lift and application) also they allow greater alignment adjustability. They are not necessary for your potential lift and use.

Rear shocks with reserve? a great difference?

Not sure about this one as I have no experience, but they will ride better. That difference also comes with the increase in price, so it's up to you on that one.

So if i want to go Fast on desert trails then, Coilovers and UCA i guess for longer travel and best ride.

Yeah I would suggest an Icon, Saw or King front coilovers for the front if you are going fast in the desert. The OME's will be too stiff and won't be the best. Those coilovers of course are expensive, so it all depends on what you want to spend.
