Suspension Recommendations, NEEDED!!!

After about a year with my 3" Toytec Leveling kit, it's time to think about getting an actual suspension :clap2:

1.) I have NO intention of BEATING the sh*t out my truck, it is my daily driver and I want no part at damaging a $35k vehicle (call me a pu$$y) but that's okay lol. But I do want it to be as off-road capable as monetarily possible.

2.)I'm NOT trying to break the bank, BUT I understand that you get what you pay for. I would love something of good to great quality, but affordable! Which for me would be ($1,300-$2,500)

3.)In the research I've done, I see that I could get an ICON Stage II for ($2,500) or get a Toytec BOSS or Full OME anywhere from ($2,000-$2,500)

All help, advise, and/or recommendations are greatly appreciated.

:thanks:

Do you wheel it at all? If not, or just minor trails, why do more than you have? Looks awesome the way it sits now!

Don't wheel it much at all as of now, been waiting for parts. My ultimate goal is to get off-road use out of the vehicle. Which is part of the reason I got the Trail. I'm in the Coast Guard and stationed in South Carolina now. But there's a chance that in a few years I could go to California, or even Seattle where I 100% will be wheeling more often.

I've been thinking about adding lift to my 17' TRD Pro. If you want my new stock suspension from my month old TRD Pro... that will justify me to spend some money on parts

:iagree:

The way you are set up now, a Trail with KO2s and a lift will get you most anywhere you want to go.

Use the money for something fun like a vacation trip with a wife or girlfriend.

Agreed.....invest in mods that will help your short term needs/goals and then focus on the others until you are located out West and would like to do something a little more challenging for your current setup. Skill....will take you much farther than some mods that you think you may need!

Your current setup is fine and is more than enough. Lots of people wheel with a spacer lift. Even a stock rig is more than enough. If you don't wheel now then you probably won't when you drop $2k on a lift. It would be wasted money. Imho, saying you don't go off-road because you don't have a proper lift or because you live in South Carolina is either a crutch or an excuse. I don't think a lift or change in location will change those things. Just get out there and try it out.

Keep it stock and drive it. I took mine from the dealer to Moab and did perfectly fine going slow. If you want to lift it quick, just do the 5100 lift everyone and their mom recommends. Then you can find out what you like and get serious with Kings/Fox.

if you don't wheel at all, or wheel just a little, leave it stock

although i recommend that you go offroad (who cares how much it costs, that's what insurance is for)

Stance/truck looks good OP...good luck with mods

BTW, are you guys seeing the "Economy Dentures" neon sign in background...

And to the rest of you guys on here...

Man, nothin' more deflating than wanting affirmations for irresponsible spending from like minded people and getting nothing but crappy, sound/sensible advice back! WTH!
You will not get that fom me, sir! I am a raging irresponsible spender!

It's not about "learning to use your vehicle to it's potential, the way it was designed originally" or whatever that crap that some of our more logic minded brethren constantly spew.
It's about pulling up next to a Prius drivers window right where the UCA is in his face and screamin' "TOTAL F***IN' CHAOS MUTHA' F***A'!!!" and hitting him with your 12bazillion lumens ditch light! :guitar3:

Personally I'm a little disappointed....

Lift advice

Get the ICON Stage 7 lift. That's my plan. Only difference is I'll use a different make of UCA and panhard and trailing bars. I go off road on some gnarly desert trails so I need it.
For city and highway driving the stock rig is better. For gravel roads the stock rig is fine. Save your money.:hello:

If your idea of offroading are level dirt roads and established camping spots, you wont really need anything. Save up for when you go west.

I DD my truck and have the monthly camping trip, but I don't see myself taking crazy rock crawling trails. So I have a Daystar leveling kit because I hated the stock rake and I wanted the clearance added clearance for snow trips.

For argument's sake, Kings have an OEM replacement for around $2400 with rear springs. I only mention this because on my last trip, instead of staying 50mph in a 70mph zone behind trailers, we went off on powerline service roads. The stock suspension did not like 40-50mph on those roads so for my peace of mind, I want to upgrade the shocks and springs to accommodate that ability.

Go big or go home #amirite?

Do you currently have aftermarket uca's, and do you happen to have any alignment numbers? What about your current setup are you trying to improve upon?

Thank you everyone for the feedback!!! I too like AsAkite am a little disappointed, I didn't come here for sound advice!!! I would have asked my wife what suspension to get if that's the response I was looking for lmao. Just kidding, I appreciate all the comments. sn_85 maybe work on your tact a little bit bud, kinda went in a little hard. If you've lived in Charleston and can enlighten me on some awesome places to trail (NOT) Francis Marion, then I'm all ears. Until then, dial back your assumptions on things you don't know about.

To everyone else, your advice was awesome. I will keep this setup for a bit while I'm here and then will look to upgrade to something more simple but that'll make the setup even better. Like the OME BP-51 and then just add some UCA's.

Thanks again all, hit me up if y'all are ever in the Southeast, and check me out on Instagram @ silver_runner24
