Suspension Shopping

I know this horse has been beaten and I’ve read the threads but would like to hear some opinions and actual experiences with their suspensions. It will see Moab trails, and trail runs at least once a month, nothing too hard but I don’t want to get beat up and it’s my DD.
And I want to clear 285’s

So I have roughly $1800 to spend and my options are:

Icon Stage one with diff drop and buy UCA’s later.

Bilstein/Toytec “coilover” kit, Camburg UCA

OME +spacer to get full 3, UCA

Toytec Ultimate, UCA

I should also add I’m adding 1” BL to it as well.

Or 6112’s with Toytec top plate, sway bar drop, diff drop, Jba UCA’s, Metal tech LT rear springs, Icon LT 2.0 shocks and extended brake lines...

I think this is the route I’m going...

But my input is do it right the first time, get what you really want, otherwise you'll be doing it again. I went through 2 front shock setups, 3 rear shock setups, and 6 rear coil setups before I was happy. Ended up with what I was eyeing to begin with.

I think that you can do pretty well with that budget. I'd recommend looking at Dobinson's... my whole set-up with assembled front struts and shipping was $1067 and I love the ride quality. You probably can't see my signature on Tapatalk so I did 3"/3" on "heavy" coils to handle the weight of my bumpers and armor.

I know I want to go LT in the rear because after all that’s where most of the articulation will come from so I’m going to do the rear how I want it piece by piece and the 6112’s will do till I can change out to Icons up front...

They have their own shocks and a wide variety of spring options to choose from... lift and load capacity. They've been in Australia since the mid-50's, I think, and appear to be pretty popular over there. Dobinsons USA is relatively new and seems to be doing well. I love the feel of this suspension set-up... firm and controlled, but not harsh. They flex very well and when you select the right set-up for your vehicle's running weight they seem to handle it well. I've watched a ton of videos from Australia 4x4 clubs, many reviews, and read through several Australian off-road forums before buying this set-up. This is the third suspension upgrade that I've done to my 4Runner and I'm finally happy! Everyone has different preferences, of course, but you should definitely look into them. Reach out to Mike (listed in the Dobinsons Suspension thread) ... he's very helpful!

Yeah you could do 6112 up front with SPC UCA, then piece together dobinson long travel rear with their coils and shocks, make your own bump stop drops from 2x3 tubing, extended brake lines from anywhere and you're good to go easily within budget.

Everyone I ride with always comments something like "damn that rear flex makes up for the IFS really well!"
