Suspension Suggestion

Well, Demello bumper is in....Winch is in. And of course the XREAS isn't loving it so much. I have the 3 inch spacer in the front and Medium duty springs in the rear.

I would like to keep the rear medium weight spring but need to replace the front coilovers and rear shocks.

I like stiffer suspension avoiding body roll....

So with all of this in mind can i get some personal opinions on what suspension i should run?

Thanks for the help.

All depends on budget. Adjustable coil overs for the front would be best, but if you're wanting something less expensive I'd look into ome coils/shocks or the ome coils with 5100s.

+1. If you can, try and look as far down the road as you can before you buy. If you have any plans of adding a rear bumper, fridge, cargo drawers, etc. you might want to think more seriously about the rear lift.

I had the Eibach coils from Toytec with 5100s, after having OMEs, and both were good. True coilovers are a definite step above though, especially for managing the front bumper weight. My Eibach coils were 620# and the Icon coilovers I now have are 650# but the ride quality is substantially better with the Icons. Not sure how different the shock valving is between 5100s and the SAW, ICON, OW, etc shocks. Good luck!

From personal experience (SW front bumper w/winch and CBI rear bumper)...Icons all around. I have extended travel remote reservoir C/O's up front and piggy back reservoir shocks in back. I had to swap out the Icon rear springs for custom springs because of the additional weight of the CBI. I've been very happy with the performance of the Icons both on the street and off road.

The stock shocks with xreas are mediocre at best. Throw on a steel front bumper w/winch and you've pretty much passed the design limits of the oem suspension. In addition, you'll probably add on more sprung weight such as skids, sliders and gear. Also, unsprung weight such as bigger tires. Since you put on this bumper and winch I assume you plan on taking it off road. You'll be much happier with quality suspension components that can handle the weight.

It depends on the cost and budget. How much are you looking for a suspension?

I don't have the bumpers on my 4th Gen V8, only skids and sliders. But I need to say that I'm feeling disapointed with my OME suspension medium 885 and I need to talk about it. :sobbing: It was cheaper, it gave me height/clearance for 33" tires but it sort of stops there for me. With the OME heavy 886 it is sort of a no brainer that it will take the weight. But I don't think the ride will be nice. I ride in my buddies FJ cruisers with OME 886's and it handles all their bumpers and armor, but the ride is stiff and flex is non existant. One thing that it might do right is fast-ish driving over smooth-ish bumpy surfaces. Like hard packed dirt or sand/dirt that goes up and down like rolling waves. Or really slow over obstacles offroad. But hit a poorly maintained gravel road or hit a bump on the street and my passsegers leave their seats. It sucks.

Anyway, I don't know how to explain it, it just doesn't ride nice, and that personally I'm shopping something else now. So for the lower cost and no brainer solution to all that extra weight OME will do it. But if you can afford it, and have some time, take a look at what other solutions are available to hold up the weight. My cheap solution will cost twice as much now, actually 3 times as much....1- fancy xreas...gone...2- OME going...3-new something else coming in....

I am in the same boat. No bumper and 885s upfront plus a top plate spacer and ride isn't nice.

Well it is good to get some reviews on OME because i was truly considering buying those. I know the ride would be better with icon but i am not so sure i am ready to spend that kind of money. Maybe somewhere inbetween ICON and OME. I would like to stay at or below 1k for the front and rear suspension comibined.

I guess at this point i need to find a good coil over up front that can handle the weight and some long travel's for the rear...

Ive got coilovers with 650lb coils in the front, and they are spot on without a bumper, and I don't see the DO bumper throwing it too far off. I would stick with something in that range for a good ride. In the rear, if you don't carry too much (or any extra weight) I would suggest the SAW coils and your choice of shocks. Def don't go too cheap on it regardless of what option you go with. Suspension is something you feel at every part of the ride, and if your not happy with it, you will be reminded of it every second you drive.

I have the OME lift (heavy coils 896/886) and I couldn't be happier.

The ride is VERY smooth with added weight( front and rear bumper). I couldnt be happier.

If you dont have a budget and have tons of money to spend go for ICON or Total Chaos. Why not? :)

But if you want something practical that wont break the bank OME all the way. Just keep in mind how much weight you have or will add in the future. I had my current setup installed for about 2 months before my bumpers went on. It was pretty stiff. I literally was catching air over speed bumps.
