If its within budget... I would opt for a resi with external adjusters...

If I didn't, I would end up just being curious about what it would have felt like anyways and would feel I missed out on any potential fine tuning not having the adjusters.

I think this is probably even more important on a multi-use rig... and you will probably develop a preference overtime and for different terrains.

Suspension is also one of those items that you can grow into, and even if you dont, you have some additional headroom when off-road which can play into a saftey/performance argument.

Talked to a rep at king, and short of doing a custom job, it's no dice. So back to the drawing board.

Absolutely [MENTION=110387]jstim[/MENTION], they won't steer you wrong. They'll get you squared away for sure.

I'm about to install to their 2.5'' coilover system in front and their resi compression adj shocks out back over the holidays. I can't wait to get it all put together and get it back on the road.

Let me know what you think. I'm iffy about them not being adjustable, since I like driving my 3rd gen.

just a side note Steve at sonoran steel offers a his 1.2 system with randflo's resi if you want a kit thats all complete.

His older 1.2 kit was on the amored pig for a long time, randflo's were not offered way back then. But Steves kits are pretty much the best balanced and super capable off road.

I bought his 1.2, and that's what's on it. It's got 25k and almost 2 years on the lift. I think it's just time to upgrade some of the components.

You are probably right... but they can always grow into it. Its nice having the headroom for performance and saftey.

That said... I didn't know I needed a resi, until I got a resi...

Just like a lot of things in life, at least for me, sometimes I didn't know what I needed until I got it and tried it for myself.

I've got ADS resis in front and ADS piggies in the rear. Try and get u a picture. Neither are adjustable though. I heard ADS wasn't going to be making them adjustable anymore also.

I could be wrong, but in my opinion its pretty much the same thing in terms of function... but a piggy is attached to the rest of the shock like this...

Where as with a resi "remote reservoir" its attached via a hose allowing you to mount the reservoir remotely. I would also say its safe to assume you can probably attached a larger reservoir when you dont have it crowding the shock and wheel...

I just received my ADS coilovers for my 1st gen Tacoma . I had the option of non resi, resi's, and compression adjusters. I chose the resi's as they were bout $100 more decided not to have adjusters as that was adittional $250-300 option. Got them from a vendor on Tacoma world for a real good price! Still haven't installed them . Went with ads as they are ceramic coated and believe there components are the same as their race shocks (seals etc). Also they are not blue, they r black and silver.

I think his name was Jake honestly. Basically told me they would build the shock I want, but someone would have to fab the top hat for my application.

I have watched a bunch of their stuff. My biggest reason for the consideration of opting into the remote resi is because I will eventually be back in a harsh cold climate again. -35/-40/-50 is not nice to components.
