Suspension Yay or Nay

Just need a yay or nay here. I have a 2000 Limited 4X4 with 188k in need of new shocks/struts/springs. I don't offroad and even if I did, it wouldn't be anything more than a little trail work. I want to preserve on road comfort while gaining some more control. I'm planning on 99 tall springs with Bilstein 4600s all around. Thanks for your input.

This to me sounds like you should just be sticking with stock replacement rather than any kind of lift, so nay?

But I have no experience with 99 talls and Bils 4600s. So..grain of salt and all that.

The bisteins will ride stiffer than oem shocks. They will also last forever. But stiffer doesn't necessarily mean more control. They might be a little better for cornering. But i.e. On a washboard roads the bilsteins are more jarring. The choice is yours!

This. Just did struts/top mounts up front and shocks in back @ 148K. Gabriel Ultra all around. Huge improvement. No off-roading here either, Gabriel is close enough to OEM for me, cheaper, and the improvement in handling is amazing. Bilsteins are fantastic if you're willing to pay but hear they're almost too stiff on bad roads. Good luck.

You could use the 99 coils on stock tokicos or any other shock it does not have to be the 4600's
I had Tundra Bilstein 5100's on my last 4runner and they rode like butter! Super smooth and my friend has Tacoma 5100's on his 4runner and the ride is also fantastic very smooth and controlled. I don't have any experience with the 4600's so I cant comment on how those ride. As far as the 99 coils they add a nice visual appeal to the 4runner and keep in stock in terms or ride quality and handling, if I didn't want 33's on my 4Runner I would run 99 coils with 5100's (wheelers has better pricing on 5100's then toytec)

No experience with the 4600's but to echo a previous post I'm running Tundra coils and Bilstein 5100's and IMO the ride is fantastic. I don't hardcore wheel it. Mostly highway and forest roads for camping. Smooth on the highway and responsive. Loaded with a couple hundred pounds of gear it just floats over washboard roads.

Does it matter what year tundra? I've heard the 5100's are good with a 3in lift but I can't seem to find 5100's for the runner. Only 4600's. I'm not the smartest with suspension.

Wheelersoffroad.com has 4runner 5100s for 168 a pair and tundra 5100s for around 200. I have a set of the 4runner struts (D558) on their way to me from them now.
