Suspension?

I have 115,000 on her. Is it time to change the suspension?

i mean, why would he need to do that unless he's gonna wheel it or is experiencing major rear sag?

At 115k the suspension is tired and even just road handling is compromised. My Runner at 99k on the original suspension handled so much looser than my mom's '99 at 70k. Parts just don't go forever and 100k on almost any susepnsion is due for some fresh parts.
Plus it's been 8-9 years on it too. Sagging shows the shocks/coils went well past their expiration date and I don't believe in waiting for parts to get that bad before replacing them.

I agree with RonMaiden. My 4runner has 131K. I thought that by changing my front and rear struts to Monroe Sensatrac and Monroe Reflex that it would improve the ride. Now, I'm convinced that I need to replace the front coilover springs and the rear springs. Currently, when I hit bumps on the highway, the handling is rough. So, I planning to update my springs with OEM springs in the near future.

but to me, if it sits level, there isnt really a point in spending all that money. it may be tired and handling may not be at its peak, but if youre just road driving, you dont need peak performance.

its always nice, but its not required.

im with you on this one, i dont wheel my 4runner anymore but i did somewhat and had about 205,000 miles on it before i noticed anything wrong with my suspension. And when i did replace anything all i had to do was the rear shocks.

I figure if you were to replace the shocks then the coils would be a simple desicion and you don't have to worry about it for another 100k+.

broncosi,you waited that long for new coils and shocks? I guess some people just compensate for the bad handling and don't know it. I drove my freind's '97 with 165k on it and it was really wary on the highway at 70mph and to me that's unacceptable. I'd think solid performance from your suspension at highway speeds would be really important since if they aren't up to peak off road you aren't likely to die.
Even changing mine at only '99k it made a huge difference with new parts.

thats the thing, it drove and handled fine the only thing was right before i got new shocks it started to get bad but then i got them installed the next day anyways. But before that i never noticed anything. and nothing was really wrong with my suspension.
