Suspension

I know the topic has been beat into the ground, but Im trying to make sure of two things: 1. If i am using the right parts for my suspension (ie will they work) and 2. if this suspension will give me the ride I want.

Currently I have XREAS on my '05 Sport. One of the shocks is slowly leaking and obviously when i priced to replace it no one knew wtf they were talking about. After reading about the system, I now know that i would need to replace not only that shock thats leaking but the other thats attached to it and the modulator. The prices for this vary but is consistently higher than just redoing the whole suspension, which is now my goal. (XREAS has over 70k miles on it anyway)

So, my plan is to get a full set of FJ springs and to use Bilstein 5100's with em. First and foremost, I am NOT lifting my vehicle, if an inch comes with the FJ springs Im fine with that. Are the 5100's the right fit for this type of application? or could I use the Bilstein HD ones (the light blue and yellow ones everyone seems to hate here :-P ).

I want a decent ride, I dont do much off-roading and am afriad that the FJ springs will be too stiff and ill be bouncing along the highway and feel every bump, is this the case?

Lots of questions, been a while since I've been on the forum, btw what happened to the 4th generation of the mods and writeups sticky. I loved that thing. Anyways, thanks for the help guys!

If it is just the XREAS that is leaking, why are you bothering to replace the springs? Rip out XREAS, put in new shocks, and call it a day.

I figured while Im at it (replacing the shocks) changing the springs with ones that have more tension may give me a better ride. However, I was looking to both make sure that these components work with each other and that the ride is improved int instead of worse....

the 5100 are used with a lift, so since ur not doing that, either get the HDs & reuse the stock springs , or just find a full FJ setup, (COs, rear springs & shocks) this will cost less $ & will leave u with only around 1 in. lift. that should be what ur looking for. by the way, the offroad package FJ setup will have the bilsteins that they make for toyota, not 5100s, but im sure they will be good enough for ur use.
