I had a dent in my 2001 4Runner's tailgate (or decklid, whatever)...so it's sometimes burdensome to find the exact model year and color so I settled for a good price on a '97.
Had the auto body guys pop on the new one today but although the key will operate the tailgate window up and down the button on the dash won't control it anymore (was working previously). Also the rear windshield wiper doesn't work on this new one and apparently the wiring they did goofed with my power locks.
I got a great deal on them installing it and the part (under 400 so far)...but any ideas on how to make a '97 compatible with a '01 wiring wise? The fuses seem fine and after searching the forum I tried closing the window all the way and putting it back up to reset...no dice.
They said there was a difference w/ a wiring box and one of the connectors (4 pins vs 6 pins) so they tried to marry the two...so maybe I need that old box in there and have to order some more parts?
Going to hunt for the fuse reset pinhole I heard about now. Will see if I can get some pics of the wires this weekend.
If I take this to another shop more experience with wiring these things, should this be under $150 to fix? Thanks!
