Hey! I resent that! Not because I use 4wd in the rain, but because at least ONE of the female members of this forum learned how to drive in the Adirondack Mountains of NY in a 1987 Z28 Camaro (woot, woot!) and I would not use 4WD in the rain. That's just bonkers.

Are you completely unaware of the fact that some people drive in the rain in 2WD? "OMG I've never had part-time 4WD I wouldn't know how to drive!"

I mean, seriously, stop being a baby. You don't need AWD or fulltime 4WD to get around in the winter, I don't care where you live. I assume they plow the roads in New York every now and again, so you don't strictly even need 4WD at all (although it's obviously handy). Get some good winter tires and stop obsessing over stupid shit.

As I said, Ive never driven a part time 4wd vehicle in adverse conditions so I do not know the order of operations with them. However, I did say that you wouldnt engage 4wd in rain. If you didnt catch that, go back and reread my post.

Then buy the trail, because full time 4wd is not as important as you think. Like some have said before, quality tires make the difference.

Thanks! Learning more about this truck as I go. It snowed yesterday and unfortunately I returned my SR5 Premium rental the day before so I didnt get to test it out

I would speculate that lawyers fees alone are astronimical compared to Losing a few grand to depreciation on a truck.

Point still holds, cars are very temporary, get over the analysis paralysis, buy a truck and start using it.
