Sway-A-Way Rear coils installed

I found the Icons to be much too stiff, so today I installed SAW coils. I kept the icon shocks for now, as they do just fine. Install took about an hour by myself.

The coils aren't very much different in size than the Icons

I used the bottle jack to press the axle down to get the coils in/out.

First impression is that they lift slightly less (which is what I wanted) and are less stiff. I will be able to give a better review on their stiffness after driving on them for a while. As it sits now, I will probably keep the front where it is, but if the back settles too much, I'll lower the front a little.

Looks good! The stance in the 'after photo' looks perfect to me. It'll handle some gear in the back without being butt low.

Thanks borgz. I've spend countless hours, and even more countless dead presidents to get it this way. It's my 5th time modifying my suspension.

Here's a shot from my OME to Icon swap, and it looks like the SAW's look much better than the Icons did.

Didn't have any on hand. I always have blocks of wood in my garage, but after I got everything out I couldn't find any. I wasn't about to wait for someplace to open, and re-pack everything. I took an informed risk.

No problems, and my front is still close to 4". I might lower it a tiny bit if the rear settles enough, but as of now it looks good the way it is. I did it more for ride comfort than lowering the truck, the Icons are just too stiff. The reply to JA's post below explains why.

I believe the spring rates on them are as follows:
Sway-a-way- 12% stiffer than stock
Icons- 16-20% stiffer than stock

Looking good! I know I've told you before but you have the best looking tint, by far of any 4Runner I've ever seen! Wish mine was like that... You should really black out the rest of your exterior, headlights from Bowtie3, tinted tails, black rims, etc. :bigok:

Thanks man I appreciate it. Bowtie only has one set of headlights right now and they are damaged so I am waiting. I tinted my tails, but it looks bad with how black the rest of my truck is, and the rims would be a waste unless they were steelies. I have some deep gouges in my stock rims from wheeling. Not sure how steelies would look on my truck.
