sway bars

i ditched my front sway bar for more articulation it was a little noticable it didnt affect the on road handiling to much with the stiffened tortion bars up front.....then one day i was thinking about gitting rid of the rear sway bar...i did a little research on the subject and found that most people worry about the on-road stabillity running sway bar-less. i had a friend tell me that you would get horrible speed wobbles...so i went ahead and pulled the rear and figured if it was bad that i would put it back on and call it a day..ter i pulled it i drove it for a good 45 min then came to the relization and ditched them both. after getting used to the new feel of the car i liked it alot little more body roll but not enuff to scare me and i have a roof rack with a spar tire up their and it dosent feel like that great of a hazzard with the added body roll...the ride feels a little bit bumpy....but im the type that would sacrifice ride for offroadability hope this hepls someone wondering bout ditching sway bars

thanks. i was deff thinking about doing it but im 16...and when i told my mom what i was gonna do she asked what the sway bars were for and when i told her she said no its "un safe" :/ so how big of a diff is it? and do they make quick disconnects for 4runners?
thanks again bro

Day to day you wouldn't notice a big difference. But if you found yourself in an emergency swerving type situation you might notice some ill effects of body roll. Like tipping over. You can do anything you want, you just gotta be careful.

Dude, would your mom know if your rig had or had not sway bars??? Never mind, you sound like a good kid. Dont listen to me. (bad influence):fro:

ha thanks man lol. my my dad was like its yours u can do what you want lol so imma take em off....im not really in situations where i have to make tight turns at high speeeds lol

ty much for your input :)

Instead of just permanently disconnecting the sway bar, especially for a truck that sees more onroad time than offroad, a swaybar quick disconnect steup makes a lot morr sense than permanently eliminately the swaybar.
That way you can have the best of both worlds.

i can see where this can be a great hazzard in an accident or really abrupt movement. my rig is also my daily driver so i worry about the on road handiling and it is more practical to put quick disco's on.....but i took them off and i am pleased with the results....dont take my word for it and put alot of thinking in to doing something this drastic to your cars handling.....i would try diconecting them but not pulling them all the way off and take a lap around your neighborhood to test them first....i would recomend the front one off and a disco setup in the rear....my front wasent to bad with the rear still connected and stiff t bars..... hope this helps you guys in anyway way and always read up on you projects

how much do quick disconnects go for???

One of my swaybar links rotted off, who's for me just taking it off?
Links go for like 40 for a 3rd gen not sure how much quick disconnect links would go for on a 2nd geb.

i wouldnt pay for discos thats some guy in his garage making them then over charging you...you can make them with parts from home depot and their are good articles on how to build them yourself on here thanks to the guys who help us all out and make write ups.....so go out and make them from what i understand they are not very difficult to fab yourself with basic tools ......happy fabbing Keith
