Pics of my BABY!!! 1988 4runner

I don't want to get anyone angry with me, but I think it is pretty safe to say that my 1988 4runner is one one of the nicest examples of a 1st Gen around. The Truck started with me as a piece of junk. What started my senior project has progressed into an obsession to have the best example of a semi modified 1st Gen out there. Since I purchased the truck I have done new paint, panel replacment, new head gaskets, 2001 Tundra Rims and BF Goodrich tires, new taillight lenses, rock panels, and TLC!!! Future plans are headers and new exhaust. At 216,000 miles, the old restrictive stock stuff has stolen power from my V6 for long enough.

This pic was taken on a beautiful summer night in the middle of nowhere in ND. I had just visited a couple girls and put 200 miles on the truck that day alone, no matter where I go, the 4runner takes me without any problems. This is truely an amazingly reliable vehicle.

lol yeah mine has never been repainted or body parts replaced yet, and it is mint. but your's is ok. oh yeah, mine has a solid front axle.

Agreed... my paint is the grey colour, with no rust whatsoever, has 77,000 miles (105,000 km), mint interior, and is an '86 with the stock, original 22RE with no problems at all -- even the original tires (soon getting replaced

All in all, it's a nice 4Runner, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it's the nicest .

There was a red modified one I saw, and it had lots of performance add-ons, and the paint was also flawless, no rust at all, and it had its top off too -- that one takes the cake, from me.

I dont think I was being harsh, he said that he thinks its one of the nicest 1st gens around. Well I see a dented rear bumber and the front bumper is completly misalligned, not exactly top shelf material in my book.

Nice, and a sixxer too.....cool rig. That would kickass for summer and off-roading. The convertable back and roll bar just scream "drive me to a beach and drink beer"

I like you wheel solution too......I think some of the 3rd gen's thick split-spoke alloys would look kickass too

That's probably because there isn't too many 1st Gen. 4Runners around here (Canada). Most of 4Runners here are late 3rd and 4th Gen. I just saw couple 2nd Gen around.
