Switch Pros and Baja Designs Wiring

Hey all! I have a SP 9100 already installed and will be working on wiring in some BD lights next.

The Squadrons and S2s both come with a harness. My question to you all is did you all use the included wiring harness (at cut off the relay and switch) or did you use the included weatherpack connectors and do your own wiring?

If you used the weatherpack connectors, is soldering needed or did you just use a heat shrink connector to connect the 2 lights together and run a single wire to the switch pro?

I know with the S8 lightbar, it does not include a harness so I will be using the weatherpack connector and 12awg wiring for that.

I used the DIY connectors it came with, but to do it properly you need the special crimper for those to "fold" the connections over.

Thanks! I did order a weather pack crimper so will make sure it's done right.

I ended up cutting the harness for the ditch lights but I think I will use the weather connectors for the S2 lights that I will be running for chase and side lighting since I would need to extend the harness anyways if I were to chop those up.

Anyone else have some feedback? I think I will be using 14awg wires for the S2's and 12awg for the S8.

If you're using a Switch-Pros, I would buy a big spool of wire and run your own leads from the lights. This way you can make everything cut to fit. If the wiring harness that came with the lights is long enough, you can use it as a pigtail to the Switch-Pros. You would disconnect it at the switch. For gauge of wire, it just depends on length and amperage of the light.

Doesn’t hurt to have some spare connectors on hand that Baja uses to do custom work.

As recommended, I am trying to use some 12 gauge wires for the S8 but unfortunately the weatherpack it comes with, looks like will only fit a 14-16 gauge wire.

I guess I will need to buy a different 3 pin weatherpack connector for 10-12 gauge?
