Switched from a 99 Tacoma to 4Runner

Hey guys I just picked up a 2001 4Runner and am selling my beloved 99 Tacoma. Had a baby & couldn't fit the car seat in the extended cab.

The 4Runner has a 3" Old Man Emu lift in the rear, Tundra coils up front wrapped with Tundra Bilstein 5100's. Transmission oil cooler and breather lines for the diffs, tranny, etc... It has a Shrockworks front bumper & I just put on 285x75x16 BFG All-Terrain KO2's. I'm getting 16.5 mpg with this setup so far. I bought it off the original owner & this thing is immaculate! Toyota serviced it's whole life! I'm excited to get it out to see how these 4Runner's perform!

You never know what will happen when you leave a note on someone's vehicle asking if you can buy it! [emoji41]

After you've driven the 4runner for a while you should post up a comparison of the two trucks. I've never driven a Taco. I'm curious to hear how they compare in ride/handling dynamics. Coming from the rear leaf springs with no panhard bar I bet you'll start to notice the rear sway from the 3rd gen rear end when you hit a good sized dip in the road

Yeah I might just do that. First I'm gonna have to learn the ins & outs of the best way to 4wheel this Auto tranny, seems like it has some cool features though! Yep I've already felt that sway a little bit....kinda tripped me out!

That was the boat I was in last year. I sold my '02 Tacoma and got a '00 4Runner Limited so I could fit car seats. I will say the 4Runner feels more solid, and a lot of the interior stuff feels better. Some minor things I've noticed are the 4Runner headliner is much stiffer and tighter to the roof, and the window seals feel better quality. 4Runner CV shafts are also larger than Tacoma CVs. The body roll feels more on the Runner at first, but you get used to it. Granted I've upgraded the suspension, but even running around with a roof top tent it does not feel excessively tippy. The longer wheelbase of my Taco extra cab felt more stable at high speeds, but the 4Runner's shorter wheelbase and tighter turning outer tie rods make for a great turning radius.
