T-Belt question for those that have done it

did mine today with the water pump, aside from everything being hard to reach and a pita, it went together fine. started right up, previous squeaks were gone (idler's im sure) and runs fine. my question, does a new timing belt make a bit of noise for a while? almost like a whine, but at idle its much lower pitched (havent driven yet). reminds of a big roots blower belt noise.

It shouldn't. You might have gotten one of the fan belts too tight, like the alternator belt (like I did).

Yeah, I'd say the same thing. Mine started up smooth as silk. (I have a belt tension gauge. They are on e-bay.)

nah, drive belts are good, i can easily turn them 90 degrees, or more. its coming from the timing belt area. the noise is quieter today, i pulled the top cover back to take a peak and the belt looks fine, doesnt look like its over tight or loose, i guess the tensioner will hold it right where it needs to be... and its not a loud noise, just something i noticed that wasnt there before the new belt.
