t-case, skid plate, black block thingy noise

So i put on a skit plate between the 2 rear cross members, protecting the transfer case...the skid is basically sitting on the transfer case, maybe has a hair of clearance. When i start up the car i get a loud knock/vibation from that area and it's either the skid vibrating on the t-case, or the little black 2-block thing next to the transfer case (could someone tell me what that is?)- a friend said that black block thing was what was causing the noise at startup.

can anyone with skid plates tell me what kind of clearance they have between the plate and the t-case? what can i do- stack up washers under the cross member to lower the skid?

What brand/kind of skid plates did you install?

my own, it's just a flat plate between those 2 cross members. which should be identical to that section of the budbuilt and skid row skids i was looking at.
