Now, if I could just get the contractor to finish this job so I could finish the painting, and the weather would cooperate so I can paint the outside.... I could get paid and afford the Headers, Tires, Body lift, Spacers, Brakes....Sheesh

So the contractor I am working for has a newer Tundra that is lifted with 35's and 20" rims. He has his old TRD rims sitting in garage. I asked him what he wants for them, $150 for all 4 with half used BF Goodrich AT's! Getting them Monday. Whoot Whoot!

Doh! They are buried and I snapped a quick pic, but looking at that pic again I think I see only 5 holes.... Damnit. If so, that makes a crappy day even worse. Either way, I looked them up on eBay and they go for around $1400 a set! so if I have to sell them at least I'll make some money.

I thought the newer tundras had 5 lug wheels, while the 4runner has 6.

Ok, did some searching and since I need wheel spacers to fit the tires anyways I found ones that convert from 6 lug to the Tundra 5 lug. They are 2" and I only wanted 1.5", but they will do. Will keep looking for the 1.5" though.

Ok, getting closer now. I sold the tires that came on those TRD rims to my mom for $200. They will be going on her FJ real soon now. They had more life in them than originally thought, and they are going to be a summer tire for her.
I stopped at the shop that is going to build my headers and he is swamped. He doesn't want to build headers from scratch now, but we went over options and decided that I am going to order a set of Tundra headers for the VVT-i motor and he will make them fit. He is also going to make me a custom Y-pipe and bend my tailpipe so it comes out the side and exhaust won't come in the cabin with back window cracked open. He already knew about the spark plug defouler trick to fool the ecu that there won't be any Cats anymore, so that was nice to not have to explain. He wanted to put it on his Dyno and tune it some, but being all wheel drive he can't get it up there. Sucks. So he will be doing the exhaust middle of July for me. Gives me time to put on my Body Lift, tires and new brakes though. He wants the B.L on first to give some extra room which is cool with me.

Lol, Ya and going to get even more crazy soon. I've been waiting to finish the house I've been working on for the last 2 months to get paid and only a few days left on it now. So I will be ordering everything real soon!

Actually the X-REAS wasn't hard at all. It's as simple as regular shocks, just has a hose attached that I just cut off since mine was junk and leaking. The hardest part for me was getting the new shocks in. I suggest a spring compressor and big long pry bar, 3-4 foot long. Another set of hands is invaluable as well. Takes time, but not overly difficult I'd say.

Put in the order for 315/70/17 tires, 2.5" body lift, Brake Motive slotted and cross-drilled brakes today and just received my wheel spacers. Unfortunately my headers will have to wait another few weeks. Real life made me spend extra money on hiring a lawyer to win custody of my boys. Waiting a little bit for the headers won't kill me and helping them is worth it.

Brakes!

Received my brakes, managed to get the fronts on so far. Hopefully I will be able to get the rears on tomorrow. I didn't research them first and didn't realize how much of a pain in the a$$ they are! Here's a shot of the new one:



They work unbelievably well. The slightest pressure on the brakes and it halts like a supercar! Waiting to see if I can tell the difference with the rear brakes on. The ones on my truck now are shot.
Still waiting on tires and body lift. Takes a few weeks I guess...ugh.

What is this Spark plug defouler trick you speak of ?

If you take the catalytic converters off you will get a code pop up and from my understanding your truck won't run right. If you put a spacer to move the rear oxygen sensors out of the pipe it will effectively trick them into thinking the catalytic converters are still there. Someone has done a write-up on it here as well. You're just taking the sensor out of the direct path of the exhaust.
