T4R 2014 SR5 4x4 Premium, Entune app/ Navigation

We got robbed

Cwest94,
I'm pretty sure the Limited 2014 4R should have the full featured Navi/Entune suite. I mean if a measly 4R SR5 4x4 Premium should have it so should the Limited.
This issue is pretty annoying and I still can't believe that Toyota doesn't have people properly trained to diagnose these problems. They should at least put me in a rental and change or update the unit until its right.

I should mention this as I don't know if this makes a difference or not. But I have a 2014 Limited with the JBL system. Should this sytem have all the fancy apps or no? According to the booklet that came with the car, it should all be there on the second page, but its not.

I have a 14 Premium and use Iphone 4. If I plug the iPhone in with USB cable (or even an old iPod), my apps don't work. It only works via bluetooth. Go figure. I had to buy a flash drive to hold all my music.

I had something similar to this and I cannot remember exactly what I did but it had something to do with the Entune setup online. Do you have it showing the correct vehicle showing in there online? We have two Toyota's and I had the wife's VIN in my setup for some reason and it didn't work at all.

BBarse,
I double-checked and since I only have one Toyota the vehicle is showing correctly in my Entunes profile. I double checked the VIN and it is correct. I was going to delete my vehicle and re-register it but a prompt came up and said: "Once deleted it cannot be recovered".
Another gripe is that I emailed Entunes about my issue and got a ticket number on Saturday @ 1700. It's been one business day and then some and no reply. I'm starting to think Toyota customer service is a huge joke.

Have you tried to take the little chip out and put it back in? I know when I did my test drive, none of the apps and stuff were there because the little card wasn't inserted into the head unit. Bottom right compartment under the track button. It pops open and they insert what appeared to be a micro sd card. I'm not sure if this will help your issue but it's worth looking at at this point.

Do you have a data plan on your phone? This is required to use the advanced features of the radio. The Radio is updated via your phone and the data plan.

If you have a data plan then enable WiFi and BlueTooth, turn off your HotSpot.

Remove the vehicle from your bluetooth connections and repair the phone with the vehicle and then go for a drive.

I tried the removing the little micro-SD chip and re-inserting it.
Deleting my phone from my car and my car from my bluetooth then re-pair them.

Yes, AT&T is my carrier. I have a data plan/cellular data.
So i have my data plan/cellular data "on". I was told to turn wi-fi off by an entune rep.
My phone attached to the car with a genuine iphone USB cord in the USB plug of the vehicle.
Bluetooth is paired and "on".
entune app on my phone is "open"
Currently my "hotspot" is turned on as per-recommendation from another member.

The hotspot is not the method that this uses to communicate, it uses BlueTooth. Iphone does not multi task, when you have your hotspot on the other features and functions of the phone will not work

Turn off the HotSpot. Do you have WiFi at at your home? Can you connect to the WiFi of you home when you are in the drive way?

Finally got Entune Apps suite to work.
I got fed up waiting for an email reply so I called the 1-800 (entune) #.
For once there was a competent tech that was able to help me.
Apparently the update was not "100%" downloaded.
This means that the service adviser at Mossy Toyota in Pacific Beach and the lead tech that he had look at my car don't know crap about the Entune system. The service adviser told me that "there is nothing to update, cause you don't have that feature on your Navi. system and if that's something you want, you should speak to your sales person." It's a shame cause his lead tech also supported what he said.
So it was an update issue and an incompetent service department issue.
I got the update pushed through by connecting my phone to the power cable, Not (usb input, like the Entune specialist told me to do the day I bought my car).
bluetooth "on" pair car and phone
hotspot "off"
wifi "off"
cellular data "on" with full reception, must not be covered in a garage.
Get update and press install.

Lessons learned:
I'm not taking my car back to Mossy Toyota of Pacific Beach for service.

Don't wait for an email back from Toyota if you ask about Entune. Toyota customer service will take more than 2 days to get back to you.

4runner.org is an awesome resource

I'm so glad I didn't trade her in for a Subaru.

Many thanks for the help!

Awesome you got it sorted. And that you posted the fix in case others have this issue! :)

I didn't notice you were in SD! Would have been interesting to see if Toyota of Escondido would have done any better. I've been generally happy with them for the last 10 years.

Surprised that pairing your IP5 to your car and validating all functionality was not part of the "delivery" process after you signed the paperwork!

I picked up my 4R TEP last Friday and Toyota of Bozeman had a person dedicated to the "delivery" and was prepared to spend as much time as I needed to go over every feature, button, knob, dial, the entire Entune system, etc.

Glad you finally got everything working. :)

I just saw the updates on this post. Contrags davester00 for getting that fixed. I'm gonna go outside here shortly and try this myself now. When I picked my Limited up in June, no one ever sat down to show me how anything worked. There was a ton going on and my sales guy was being stretched in every direction between me and a couple other customers, so I basically just left to figure things out myself. Well, I guess that's not 100% ture. He did have a new sales kid (19yr old) who just started 2 weeks earlier show me how to work stuff but he was dumber then my dog.

So I am guessing there is a spot in the entune menu to request/force updates?

And never mind. The second I opened the entune app on my phone, it wanted to download the updates and all the missing apps were in the update message and are now installed.
