t4rFL's Build

here is a video i made from last weekend, along with some pics; that day i used my winch on the FJ, the FJ used his winch, tore a cv boot and dented his roof, i used my hi-lift and cracked the grill on my snorkel

got some more wheeling time in today. was about to head home until it started raining, then decided to stay out longer. it's fun riding in the rain. i also think my next major mod is to upgrade my suspension, i thought i could wait a bit longer, but it is really soft on the bumps, and my rear end is sagging already.

my suspension was really worn out with the added weight, the smallest bump, the 4runner would bounce like crazy, so i looked for a small, 1-2" lift. decided to go with the OME 891/906 w/ 10mm trim packers.

had a buddy do it for me. ran into a few problems i would not have been able to do myself, so that was a good choice. one of the skid plate bolts' head broke off and one of the cam bolts was extremely difficult to remove with his air gun, i don't even have air tools. plus he has a lift which makes things so much easier.

Took a 3 day trip to North Georgia....drove up with a 1st gen 4runner, as he was on his way to Pennsylvania. We past through Helen, GA and went up Tray Mountain, camped near a creek, hiked to a waterfall, after some more riding around we split ways, he went north and i headed south. on the way back to Central Florida, i went to check out Apalachicola National Forest near Tallahassee, FL. From there i met up with a 4th gen 4runner in Citrus WMA. Just some pics from that trip.

leaving around 5am, packed up ready to go:

Where are you in fl? and which new ball joints are those? Moogs? I just bought a clean 99 in fl(surprisingly) and am driving back out west soon. Just enjoying the home sunshine and doing a few things to the rig before the long haul toward the rockies. Nice Rig!

found a nice camp spot right next to a creek with a nice fire pit and pre-cut firewood. i slept in the tent and it was windy and 40 mph gust through out the night. in the morning it started to rain.

somewhere in Florida got into a little bit of trouble. Florida hasn't had much rain in months, so the trails are pretty dry. i found this one trail that had some water, well it had a very soft bottom that i just sunk, and had offset holes to which i was stuck. ended up winching out, but even the winch felt like it was struggling.

I grew up in Cocoa Beach. Typically I wouldnt come back to Florida to buy a rig. Especially given how bad salt and humidity is on vehicles. It was a miracle, actually. haha. One owner, garage kept. I was down here snow-birding for the end of winter and caught it on CL. In Colorado, I could get 2x what I paid for it. Im going to keep it, though. Always wanted a clean 3rd gen but couldnt afford one out there.

nice, good luck with it.

winch solenoid crapped out, smittybilt sent me a free one. i also replaced the switch on the control box for a waterproof one. common failure on these winches.
