This is definitely a gorgeous truck, but he did in fact win the last time around, or else I would've nominated him as well. We're looking for new blood this time, kid.

I hereby second Corey (Slacker's) nomination. His work and mindset is impressive, he and I always trade little tricks and ideas, and he is a major proponent and component in the preservation and maintenance side of this hobby.

That said I'm in the middle of reading SV Dude's build and I always admired AustinTaco's. Didn't AT either sell or pick up a new rig that's been getting more attention lately?

. The problem with that is that the max. number of poll options you can have is 10, might have to see if the admin can make and exception for next year. But either way, if we wait till January for this year then it will screw up next year. You get an "A" for effort though.

I actually like the current system of going through the different gens. It actually gives us guys with older tigs a chance to be recognized. Putting my rig next to a sweet 4th gen just because i has a roof rack just makes my rig look bad.
I DO want to nominate KidV's rig. He has put a lot of hard work from the gear swap, to tire upgrades, locker and more. Plus, what I think is the most important component of having a 4x4 vehicle, He actually wheels it! I will have to go find a good pic.

I've gotta admit, I don't see the merit in doing a full-month vehicle poll based on a particular piece of equipment. That sounds more like a simple thread idea, not a poll where you have to wait until the next month just to see a different featured item. Basing it on a distinct generation of vehicles, not just what they bolted on to it, makes more sense to me. That's my two cents, anyway...

I like the idea of rotating generations every month. It gives me a chance to see other generations that I don't see all the time. Also, I don't like the idea of a roof rack v roof rack month. Just cause you dropped $1,300 on a roof rack or big tires doesn't mean you have a "build" which is kind of what we're comparing here, right?
Plus, there are a lot of people with the same roof rack, if you get 2 of them in the competition, the only way to decide is to look at the rest of the build, which is what we're already doing now.
The only thing I would change is to allow people to make more than one nomination. That said, I second the nominations for both slacker and Pyroboy

I vote NO on the Mod specific 4Runners.
T4ROTM should be a recognition of the total package. Hell, I have even voted for past Gens that were more stock looking than modded since many times that's harder to achieve than tossing on big tires and roof racks.
T4ROTM will never be close to being perfect. Most know and can better appreciate only their Gens. Others vote based on cool off road pics. Yet others vote for friends. All valid and flawed but there in also lies its charm.
If you must make some rule changes start with not allowing any to nominate themselves. Those then nominated should not be allowed to actively promote their own nominations. Otherwise lets leave it as with US as a collective picking the truck we like the best, whatever reason that may be.
I now own a 5th Gen. (previous was a 4th) and as such mostly read / post in the 5th Gen section. T4ROTM gives me the opportunity to send a few minutes reading the build threads of those in other Gens I normally would not see. If we had a Mod specific vote for say Wheels or Roof Racks I doubt I would spend much time caring.

I'm not going to lie, I'm a bit surprise at the outcome because I do like the idea. But I can't argue with the good point everyone made. Plus, in the end it's not about what I want, its about what the majority of you want, yes this is a democracy
I'm not necessarily looking to change the rules, especially if everyone happy but when an idea falls on my desk, I like to run it by everyone.
As for only allowing one nomination per member. I don't mind allowing more but its that people abuse it. People post lists of rigs that they'd like to nominate. Or you get someone that nominates three people and if its not a popular month then it could turn out that one member ends up nominating 60% of the final 5.
Now how about you idea haters nominate someone

Perhaps not mod specific... but unique characteristics? maybe not the best idea. This is coming from a 3k plus members online site. Like "Green 4runners" or something. (then again that elimates fifth gens because of their lackluster coloring options)

I agree with this, also you only get one vote (and only one vehicle can win) so why do you need two nominations?
In addition, if everyone nominates and seconds multiple vehicles then it seems like it would make it harder on Cal to narrow it down to 5. I know we pay him very well for his hard work, but still no reason to make his part harder.
I think if we'd gone with multiple nominations & seconds last month, for instance, we'd have a 2-3 builds with 5-6 nominations, then 5-6 builds with 2-3 nominations and the poll would have to be huge or some would be eliminated despite having the same amount of votes in as others who made it.

If you're willing to lower the bar, I'll consent to be nominated, just to fill out the ballot. But there's probably not ever going to be too many 1gen T4ROTM candidates, we're all too busy beating the crap out of our trucks to be bothered with silly things like washing them .
I agree with you that we need more spice in the polls. "Best Mod" maybe isn't the best idea out there, but what about "Best homebuilt bumper", or "Best cargo management system"? Not a poll on who spent the most on an aftermarket rack or lights, but things that members built from scratch.
I'd like to see a "Best body damage" or "Best flop" poll too. Maybe "Biggest spash during a water crossing"?
