For some reason people have this weird aversion to towing with anything except the most giant truck available. You can easily tow thousands of pounds around with a Tacoma or 4Runner, you're not going to be racing, but if you don't drive like a jackass and don't get yourself tied up somewhere you shouldn't be, it's not a problem.
Totally agree. You shouldn't be driving 75 in a 4Runner while *NOT* towing, don't see why you should want to do it WHILE towing. It'll do 60-65 with a well balanced trailer all day long.

And it isn't fair to compare a full size truck (Tundra or big-3) and its capabilities to a first gen Tacoma - they are very different beasts.

Just wondering but why should you not drive At 75 while you are in a 3rd gen? I understand if you’re towing something you shouldn’t. Not saying I’m going to go a 100 either.

The Tacoma does have a higher resale than a comparable year 4Runner, so it's not like you are losing value (unless it's a 2wd). You could always offer the Tacoma up on trade for a 4Runner down the road and could break even or better. You will also get to help ALL your friends move every other month if you get the Tacoma. Regarding towing, my 4Runner did just fine:

There’s trailer guys, and then there’s pickup truck guys. No one’s going to win this argument. To each his own!

BTW, I stopped hauling stuff for neighbors and friends long ago. Everyone understands when I explain why, and there’s never any hard feelings. Plus, same could be said for trailer owners. Just sayin.

I had a fill size truck for almost 10 years, but replaced it with my 4Runner. I rarely used my truck bed, and I prefer the enclosed cab area and people capacity over a truck bed. I do have easy access to a utility trailer so that helps.
