Tacoma TRD rear shocks with stock coils

I have been trying to search for this answer to this question, but have been getting conflicting answers to this question. Is there anyone running this set up with out spacers or fj coils? I'm not looking for any height just a better ride, and got a good deal on some shocks. I have read it will be fine, and another saying it may be too long and dislodge the stock spring. Help would be much appreciated. Thanks everyone

I took a few measurements this morning. I jacked the corner up so I could get full extension of the shock. My measurement from the bottom of the top washer to the center of the eyelet on the bottom was 22.5 inches.(truck xreas measurment) The Bilsteins I want to install are 23 inches. So I think a half inch is not going to hurt anything. So am just going to push forward and install and take the risk. By my measurements it should work. But by no means am I a mechanic, and I take no responsibility if it does not fit on your ride or if something happens if you do this install. Here in the pictures you see my truck lifted off the ground to get full extension of the shock, and the other pic is the bilstein shock where I took the measurements from. That is also the points I measured on the truck. See the black marker lines. Thanks for looking, please chime in if i'm off base here!

Just got my truck back from my buddies shop, seems to be good. Just have to change out the eyelet bushing. Good luck

I am curious as well , I bought a set of 2017 Tacoma TRD Hitachi Shocks/Struts ... Supposedly front go on with no mod , but rear i hear i have to change bottom bushing...
I just don't know the size I need OD and ID ?

There are a couple of other Taco TRD swap threads on here. The OP in one of them recommended these: Energy Suspension 9.8108G 3/4" Hourglass Shock Eye Bushing. I've got my eye on a set of TRD shocks/springs from a '15 model for this swap. The only things left to source are some new top bushings (tophats??). I'm assuming the ones in my '06 sport are pretty tired.

I'm still on the fence about doing some of the swaybar bushings at the same time but these are pretty easy to replace afterwards. I may just leave the stock rear springs in place for now to see what height front/rear I end up with.

I bought a set of take off TRD off road from a 2014 taco with 2k miles before he lifted it.
I did the TRD complete front + 3/8" Toytec spacer in front and got almost 3" over stock with XREAS.
On the rear I did my stock coils but the matching TRD shocks + 1.5" Daystar spacer and it sits level.
