Hi again! Ok, I recently made another post about trading my rims and tires for a set of stock T4R/Tacoma/Tundra rims/tires and Ive got an offer for a set of 02-04 tacoma rims/tires. Before I get lashed by fellow forum members, I did take some time and do several searches for pics and info on this forum but I did not find much info. So.......does anybody have any pics or links of pics of a 3rd gen with the following rims on them and any info on how they will fit on my 3rd gen (in the other pic)? (16" w/ 265/70/R16) Thanks all!!!!!!

I had some Tundra rims from a 2006 (17" split 5-spoke). They worked fine, but they did seem just a TINY bit sunken in. The offset is higher in the Tundra/Tacoma rims, so it will look like your wheels are pushed into the vehicle---not a good look. You can get wheel spacers, but personally, I will never use them, because of safety and the hassle.
You should look for some Land Cruiser (FZJ80) or Lexus LX450 wheeels. Much better look.

Anyway, the Tacoma rims are still at a higher offset (4.5") than the 4Runner(4.375"), so it will still look pushed in, especially if you have flares.
And also, why are you looking at those wheels? Personally, I think they look really bland. I'd rather roll on some black steelies than those wheels.

Yeah, pnut sorry about that. I realized that I had misunderstood what you wrote after I had replied. You were refering to a different set of rims than I was inquiring about though (hence the pic I had posted). I agree that the tacoma rims arent exactly the flashiest rims out there but I like them better than the rims I have now. I really want a set of the 5 spoke limited rims. I think they are really sharp but it seems that a lot of other people think that to and dont want to part with them for a decent price. BTW, I dont really see how you say that a set of black steelies are any less bland than the tacoma rims are. The only thing that I think of when I see any color steelies is "man, they look cheap". Of course thats exactly what they were designed for; to be a cheap replacement for folks that didnt like their stockies. But thats me.

I can attest to the previous statements. I currently run 06 Tacoma wheels on my 4Runner and they are too "tucked in" for my liking. I got a great deal on them and was unsure what they would look like so I painted them black and put them on. I still really like them and am going to go with spacers.
I have yet to hear a story on here of someone having safety issues with spacers. It all appears to be hear-say. I have seen quite a few people on here run spacers for a few years with now problems. I don't really see a difference in spacers versus a wheel with less backspacing provided the spacers and wheels are torqued correctly.
Here is a picture of mine without the spacers if you are interested.
Again I know they are not the same wheels as yours but the backspacing and offset will be the same.

trd, there are plenty of stories on the forums and ones I've heard from my local Discount Tire about some horror stories of people running spacers. There are numerous issues, such as vibration, irregular tire wear, etc. But the most detrimental case is, when you put in spacers, this obviously makes the wheel push out more. But what also happens is, the wheel studs aren't long enough to offset the extra thickness of the spacers, so the lug nuts can't be safely secured on there. Which means lug nuts coming loose or snapping the studs. Which means....well, you can guess.
This is why Discount Tire stopped selling and installing wheel spacers (probably other tire retailers as well). OTOH, I know there are people that have run spacers with no issues. However, I'm not taking any kind of risk on any of my vehicles. My health/life is worth more than a set of rims.
I strongly suggest anyone considering wheel spacers to drop the idea and just get a set of wheels with the desired offset.

i am running spacer but i check each week and have changed my studs out to longer studs. i been running it on my 2004 Tundra for the past 3 years, and my 4runner for almost a year now.
if you do you get spacer invest in some longer studs and do not keep the stock short stubie studs.
as for vibration i dont get any unless my tires are under flated or off blance tires.

Personally, I would not run spacers either. I just do not want any foreign matter between my wheel studs and rim. Even some local tire shops in my area will not even work on a vehicle (tire work that is) if it's running spacers.
I too have heard of horror stories from running spacers. I have also heard of drivers complaining of vibration issues at hwy speeds with running them. Just a thought to keep in mind.
With that said, if I ever did decide to run spacers (which is a big IF), I'd definitely go with the brand SpiderTrax. I've heard only good reviews from guys running these: Spacers

I just installed some of those! SpiderTrax...
First, I would like to say that just about ALL of the people who complained about vibrations had OTHER people install them for them, tire shops, etc.
I installed them MYSELF, and from minute 1 til now, I have not felt ANY vibrations...they just need to be torqued up right, and I mean RIGHT.
I took it on the freeway immediately, and no vibrations! If in a few weeks, it starts to, I just may need to squirt a little Loc-tite onto the bolts, but I'm not too worried.
I'm going to be installing a Daystar spacer lift and a Vortex muffler both in the next week or so, and while I'm down there, I'm gonna check all the nuts and make sure theyre tight.
