Not sure this has been covered before but looking for insight before I jump into it.
The black panel on the tailgate with the 4Runner emblem where the lock release button is has become loose such that every time I go to pull open the tailgate the panel will move several mm before the tailgate moves... Lots of play. Do I have to pull the plastic from the rear inside to access it? Is it some sort of washer or part that needs replaced?
